That's pretty decent for a short-notice event, but c'mon, this is Brazil! However...in the fine people of Chicago's defense, the tickets are way overpriced.

I will say 35000..........not great for a match against Brazil.

But you have to wonder why they scheduled this game on the first NFL Sunday of the new season. The match starts at 3:00.....know what time the Bears start at San Diego? 3:00

Everybody in town wants to see the Bears

The Brazil-Mexico match in Foxboro on Wednesday is rumored to be already at 45,000 and if good weather they are expecting a sellout (63,000)

Chicago Tribune said 40,000 yesterday, presumably got that estimate from the Soldier Field folks.

I would certain expect Brazil-Mexico to outdraw Brazil-U.S.

I'm going to say 42,000. There are commercials on multiple English channels in Chicago (ESPN, ESPN 2, and the local ABC affiliates) and I heard a commercial on ESPN radio here in Chicago too.

On the down side I went to the Chicago Soocer Store yesterday and was in line behind 6 high school kids buying Brazil gear. I really hope there aren't 30,000 Brazil "fans" who probably couldn't even locate Brazil on a map but root for them because its the "cool" thing to do.

It'll be 25,000 such "fans" for Brazil, and about 15,000 for the U.S.

Am I the only one who wants to choke people who root for teams they have zero connection to? Being a New Yorker in Jacksonville is tough seeing all the floridians wearing Red Sox and Pats gear when they dont even know what states besides Massachusetts are in New England (wait, you mean Boston isnt its own state?). I had one guy try to explain to me that New York is actually a part of New England and so Jets fans should root for both. Its one thing if you are watching Brazil vs Argentina and you decide to root for Brazil when you have no connection to either, but when you root against your home side its complete crap.

    Lets go US

These people really get under my skin. I don't allow my students to wear NY Yankees hats in class unless they're actually from NY or they have some connection.

Who casts not up his eye to the sun when it rises? but who takes off his eye from a comet when that breaks out? Who bends not his ear to any bell which upon any occasion rings? but who can remove it from that bell which is passing a piece of himself out of this world? No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.

Do I sense another "Azteca North" type game (like the one vs Mexico)? Come on US fans!

I fail to see what John Donne has to do with this. Why dont we act like Robert Jordan from For Whom the Bell Tolls and kill the fascists.

BTW, I hate the people who are bandwagon Yanks fans too.

I sleep not day or night

From the bells of the church adjoining, I am daily remembered of my burial in the funerals of others

Now, this bell tolling softly for another, says to me, Thou must die

The bell rings out, and tells me in him, that I am dead

Not having anticipated Hemingway, Donne was simply expressing the thought that we are all connected. As we are, bandwagon Yankee fans included.

Kill, hate? I guess I'd better keep my distance from you, connected or not.

30,000 for the full Brasilian team is pathetic.

Just tried to pull up some tickets to see where they landed. The South end will be full, the best I pulled was the last section 306. The middle sections of each top level are sold and it keeps giving the outer sections for best available.
I bet the $40 400 level seats will start getting full in the next days. Surprisingly people are still buying the $95 300 level seats on the East end.
The stadium will look pretty full, the atmosphere will be awesome. I just hope they paint over the college football lines!

    I'm thinking 50,000 or high 40K!

On Fri night, FSC said they had sold 30,000, pretty weak. If it doesn't improve to a respectable number USSF should steer clear of Chicago for a while

If I see one more little blonde kid in Atlanta walking around with an Italy jersey I will be forced to make the 5 o'clock news for the inappropriate public beating he will receive.

You think that's bad? At my school there is a new wave of kids buying those knock-off jerseys on Ebay. Now all of the sudden everyone has an Italy jersey. Then when they see me in the halls they ask "Why is your jersey made out of a different material?"

You may see 50 non-US jerseys at our school, but not a single US jersey.
