While watching the match yesterday, I noticed quite a bit of U.S. ads bordering the field. Budweiser, Coke, McDonalds, and quite a few others. I don't remember this much U.S. advertising previously. It's kind of ironic though that the U.S. in general does not care for soccer. Just an observation.
Well, except for Budweiser, they are all global Brands who sell their stuff pretty much everywhere in the world. So I'm not surprised that they use the Confed/World Cup as a stage to present themselves as it is the biggest sport event in the world.
Budweiser is the official beer for World Cup 2006 and Manchester United. Coke and McDonalds are not surprises at all. In fact, Coke is a big sponsor in soccer since Pele was around. BTW, I find it funny that Budweiser is the offical beer sponsor for Gemany 2005. Germany got nice beer and it got Budweiser as their sponosr.
