Why ridiculous? Real Madrid is like the Yankees, they got the money and they spend well. Ronaldo didn't gave nothing in return to Inter, watch what happen when he plays for Real Madrid with Figo, Roberto Carlos, speaking the same language. President of Real two years ago when he won the election he signed Figo and later ask his opinion about Zidane and Figo was the first to say don't lose that opportunity, so its no surprise Ronaldo fits in the same group of thinking, its the players way, players on some other teams would reject that idea. I see Figo when he finish his career to be in the same capacity, like Paulo Futre with At. Madrid. I think Figo will retire after the Euro 04 and will still be with Real Madrid in some capacity.

I saw the highlights and he really did look like he had his old form back. On one play he had the ball deep in Espanyol's end just outside the right side of the box. He teased a few defenders into challenging him and then changed direction leaving them standing still. He did this twice and then put a cross in for a good chance on goal. Certainly impressed the crowd who were in amazement.

Figo one leg was a mistake he knew was not healthy he should took himself out of the team, we could have done better let's say with Hugo Viana with two legs. But I think Nike and other sponsors all they care was about themeselves.
Frank, The ultimate responsibility for judging Figo's fitness level and whether he should have played was Oliveira. Figo is a consummate competitor, and realized that 2002 was most likely his one and ONLY chance at the WC. If he had begged off, the millions of Portuguese fans would have called him a quitter. You're right -- Viana or Capucho would have done better in those circumstances. At Madrid, Figo was getting subbed regular around the 50-minute mark toward the end of the year. Unfortunately, AO did not have the same sense nor fortitude as Vincente Del Bosque.
Correct AO should had the vision, how can you keep Rui Costa the all game on the bench, he should be the replacement for Figo. AO was losing and instead of putting forwards in he was putting defenders in.
I agree...my point is that you can't blame Figo for WANTING him play, you have to blame AO for LETTING him play. Period!
