I was reading about the 1 year extension clause earlier, if he genuinely doesn't want to be here then it's a bit of a risk extending his contract if nobody wants to sign him for a fee in the summer, unless we know there's definite interest then it's probably better to free up his wages and sign someone who wants to be with us.

If we secure promotion though he might decide he's happy to stay. I dunno we can only speculate, some people seem to think he's a bit homesick and he's got wind that a London club might be interested.

Lincoln did us a favour last night, beating Sunderland 3-1. We're still top of the table on goal difference and with 2 games in hand over them.

Wigan can still go top as they're 5pts below us with 3 games in hand. Sunderland fans must be in meltdown as Wigan have 5 games in hand over them.

BTW did any of you watch the Sunderland v Wycombe game? Sunderland went 3-2 up on 92mins and were celebrating like they'd won promotion and then Wycombe equalised on 98mins. Glorious.

We're rumoured to be after Cole Stockton (Morecambe) as a replacement for Ladapo, a fee of £500k being talked about.

Fleetwood have done the double over us this season, definitely our bogey team. Well at least they didn't put 4 goals past us this time and Sunderland drew.

Our form has dipped a bit but that might be a good thing as long the wheels don't completely fall off and we pick up again in February once the transfer window has closed.

Wigan look absolutely nailed on to win the league though, their ability to grind out narrow wins with late goals is something to be admired.

Rotherham's 2-0 win over Crewe, along with Sunderland's hammering at Bolton has sent the Millers to the top of the table, and while Wigan have a game or two in hand, you have to say it's deserved. The best goal differential in the division by far, and the fewest goals allowed by a fair margin. They're giving up a mere .67 per game, which has automatic promotion written all over it.

If his contributions have been anywhere near what the record implies, what Wednesday wouldn't give to have Richard Wood back right now.

Sunderland are a funny team as well, one minute they look like the best team in the league and the next they're getting thrashed.

They've now sacked their manager which could be a bad thing if they become more consistent.

They're in 3rd, actually, and the teams they trail - Rotherham and Wigan - have two and four games in hand, respectively. They're in the process of watching automatic promotion slip away. And, of course, the playoffs are a crapshoot.

Frankly, even if the new guy (whoever he is) rights the ship, I think the top two spots may well be beyond them. And if he gets it wrong, well, they're only seven points clear of seventh. Rolling the dice, here, Sunderland.

On the brighter side of Wearside, Jermain Defoe has apparently rolled up, and it looks like the rumored signing may be happening. I guess technically signing a 40-year-old striker may or may not be considered 'the bright side', but I do love me some Jermain Defoe. He's a Pook's THFC man-love Thread of Famer, you know ... and there can be no higher praise than that.
