Of course Italians still lived in Toronto. Im talking about the St Clair area. That was the main Italian party street. That area after 1982 started becoming heavily Portuguese populated. Of course there were still Italians living there as there is now but that area was heavily populated by Portuguese so saying that the Portuguese went into Italian area is not really a fair comment. By the way, no one hates anyone. Some of my truly best friends are Italian and even my daughter is dating an Italian.

In 1982 we celebrated in Italian neighborhoods. Where did we rub the win in other people's faces. Italians still lived in Toronto in 82 before they started to spread to the suburbs so there was alot of us. The last time Italy won the WC was 1938 prior to 82 so YES this was a big deal to us. Thank Italians for putting soccer on the map in the GTA because now every country is waving their respective flags. Before 82 this city was a ghost town during the big tournaments. And yes I keep my friends close and my enemies closer :)

For someone that hates the Portuguese, you sure do spend a lot of time in their forum. PS about your long winded explanation of the Portuguese. You kind of missed out quite a few parts. First of all, it did not start in 1994, it started in 1982 when you guys won the world cup and put it in our faces, but not just our faces, in everyone's faces. You guys started the hole party in the streets thing. As far as you guys eliminating us from the 1994 WC. No Portuguese soccer fan holds anything against Italy for that. We were just not good enough.

It started in 1994 WC qualifications when Italy and Portugal went to a play off. We eliminated Portugal. Throughout the 1994 WC Portugal would wave the Brazilian flag after every Brazil win. When Brazil won the Portuguese fans came to Italian neighborhoods and waved the Brazilian flag in our faces and celebrated with the Brazilians even though the only connection is that they speak the same language. This is only in the Toronto area and you won't see this hatred anywhere else. We still hold a grudge that Portuguese would do this to us. They have never won anything and they still claim to be the best because they confuse Brazil with Portugal.
