I would say that when he left Italy, he had the same problem many players from Serie A have experienced and that while it's a pretty physical and very tactical league, the pace of the game is pretty slow (especially compared to the Prem or Bundesliga).
Napoli under Sarri were one of the few teams that played at a higher tempo. but when you're not used to it, it's not hard to see how players can struggle and/or take time to adapt.

I always thought that Berbatov would have absolutely shredded in Serie A. He's technically superior to almost anyone he plays against and reads the game beautifully. He should've gone to Juve when he left United instead of going to Fulham. I get that his family liked England but I'll never understand that move.

Can we make any use of him?

Let's stop looking at rejects from bigger clubs and start signing players on their way up.

I am starting to get on the Bruno Fernandes band wagon. He has the mental side, he has the IQ, he has good enough skills, if he is the guy that will put Lingard on the bench then please get him.

One interesting comment Ole said in the interview on Friday was speculation over a lot of players but there are some that the papers are not looking at.

The question remains, how do we integrate Garner Gomes Greenwood and Chong.

I can't see him going to City. He's a fit for City but where would he play? They need a 6, every other position is taken, and they have youth coming up in the same role. He could be another of their 10/8s but he should be a regular starter.

I'm more worried about him opting for a European club over us on the basis that we're a shambles. Or that we'll slap too high a price on Pogba and decide we don't need BF. This is the summer that both BF and Ndombele will be moving - we could swap Pogba for those two and likely still have zero net spend.

He seems to be putting up good numbers. Has anyone watched him?

    James a reject?

He's literally better than every player on your side not name Pogba.

Why TF can’t we jump ahead on transfers like other clubs are starting to do. Militao transfer to Real was agreed a couple months ago for $50 mill, seems like a steal. All this laziness to sign a DoF is costing us. By the time we are ready the we will end up overpaying for over hyped players.

Would have him in an instant and he should be on our RB target list. But I'd still have Meunier ahead of him (or pretty much anyone for that matter) as he'd great value for the money. And with all the needs we have, we could do with some bargains.

I've never focused much on Wan-Bissaka, but if today is his level, then he's not good enough. His composure while passing out of the back is suspect. He's been under pressure a couple of times and done his best AY impression.

He can dribble pretty well in transition. He's tidy. But I wouldn't open the checkbook for him based on today - not with Dalot/Laird/Williams all as u20 options with high potential (all 3 of whom have better technique than W-B based on today).

I do think his technique is a bit slapdash for a team expected to dominate, and the whole point of us strengthening at FB is that our current first choicers struggle when pressed. Not saying he isn't good but I wouldn't be too surprised if this is the best season he ever has.

Really wish we would appoint the DOF ASAP. The smart clubs are getting business done NOW, we will be lucky to get our 3/4 choice players and if we do get a top level player we will end up paying massively for them. What a disappointing way to end a season, hope we can sort our self out quickly.

we made some headway in getting early business done with having Solskjær full time (whether you agree with the appointment or not) so any potential buys know who they are playing for and stylistically what they are getting into.

we've just undone that and more by "qualifying" for the UEL. somehow i get the sense that Jadon Sancho doesn't want to trade UCL for UEL. or any other target really.

now we're basically hoping players have a historical family affinity to United, are English (lol) or want the money above all else because as a project it is far down on the attractive list

Hard to argue with that kind of output (recorded a hat trick over the weekend), even if it's in the Portuguese league.
Reports are all over the place here: we have been interested in some time obviously and there is word he could be among our first signings this summer. But there are reports now that City are in the mix as well and could be close to wrapping that deal up. TBD, I suppose but City interest, given our position could be a problem.

Could be, but if Pogba were to stay, Fernandes would also work when we play 4-4-2, with a diamond midfield positioned at the forward tip of the diamond, in support of the 2 forwards.

missing the cl could be a blessing in disguise by essentially removing united from contention for players like bale, james rodriguez and forcing us to go young. the team needs to be destroyed and rebuilt.

we should go with young, emerging stars for the cb, rb, dm, rcm and rw spots: de ligt, wan-bissaka, rice, fernandes/rabiot, sancho.

Bale and J-Rod should not be targets of ours to begin with anyhow. I do agree that we have to think long term and go for younger targets where we can. But financially, that does not look feasible and more importantly, the fact that we're not in the CL next season will put some of those top guys out of reach.
I think we can get Rice, but guys like Sancho, de Ligt are all but pipe dreams at this juncture. If we can secure top 4 this coming season, Sancho, who I believe will stay put this summer, could be within our grasp. Same with de Ligt: the only chance we have with him is if he decides to stay with Ajax for another season and we get our act together, secure CL for the 2020-21 season and look like an interesting project once again.
And given the fact that we will have to pay over the odds for some players this summer, we need to consider bargains where we can get them: guys like Meunier and Alderweireld for instance, the latter for instance we need to consider if other options at the position do not pan out somehow.

TA and Meunier would be wise and inexpensive acquisitions.

Meunier will end up at Everton and it'll turn out we were never even looking at him

Admit it it just feels one of those summers

Make of that what you will. Find it interesting that the rumored price for him was said to be between 80-100mil not so long ago (and not for the first time I might add).
