    UEFA rankings Portugal moved ahead of Greece
    *:portugal close to 3 teams in the CL,
    excellent job by Porto, Sporting, Benfica and Leiria

    Sexto lugar cada vez mais consolidado
    Ranking UEFA: Portugal volta a aumentar diferença sobre a Grécia

    Depois da Grécia ter recuperado, com a última eliminatória da Taça UEFA, alguma da distância para Portugal, na luta pelo sexto lugar do «ranking da UEFA», a vitória do F.C. Porto em Marselha, esta quarta-feira, e as derrotas das três equipas helénicas na Liga dos Campeões - Panathinaikos, Olympiakos e AEK Atenas -, fazem com que a diferença volte a disparar de dois para 2,5 pontos.

    Depois da ronda desta quarta-feira, destaque ainda para a troca de posições entre a Inglaterra e a Itália, com os britânicos a beneficiaram dos péssimos resultados das duas equipas de Milão, Inter e Milan.

    Se Portugal conseguir chegar ao final da temporada à frente de Grécia, Holanda, República Checa e Turquia (os perseguidores imediatos), em 2005/06 terá duas equipas directamente na fase final da Liga dos Campeões, mais uma na terceira pré-eliminatória e três na Taça UEFA.

    Em relação a 2004/2005, não há alterações de número de equipas em provas, mas os clubes portugueses ganham mais uma presença directa na fase de grupos da Liga dos Campeões e ainda uma equipa adicional a disputar o apuramento para a competição.

    If Portugal stays ahead of Greece, Holland, Rep Check, Turkey they will have in 05/06, 2 teams direct in the CL and one in the qualify round

    The interesting thing about that list is that Russia dropped off the list. Yet, Lokomotiv was able to spank Internazionale 3-0. I think that performances from that of Lokomotiv could propel Russia back towards the top 20.

    As for Portugal, well, I would look to Sporting and Benfica to see off their next opponents in the next round of the UEFA Cup. Otherwise, there would a lot pressure on FC Porto to rack up the points.

    Does anyone know if Benfica would use their new stadium for continental matches or do they still have to wait?

    Benfica will use is new stadium in the next Uefa Cup game, they said good bye to the National stadium against Gil Vicente
