that's an excellent buy for Udinese (btw,it was Jancker who turned down a move to Galatasaray, not Bayern Munich)
it fixes the only true hole in the formation, the reason why the team struggled so much at home last season: i know Jancker ain't a reliable finisher and that he's coming from the worst possible campaign for a striker (0 goals in 18 league matches...) but he will create openings in the attack for Muzzi,Di Michele and the midfielders when the guests make barrickades.
and whatever his recent performances, snatching the starting centreforward of the WC finalists for a mere €4 mil is a coup!

Sosa was possibly a marginally more proficient scorer but Jancker is much better at working for the team.
if the article doesn't tell it,il Pampa has been loaned out to Boca Juniors and Iaquinta is on his way to Chievo: i hope the Pozzos will acquire an insurance policy for Carsten, but Bierhoff's demands might be too high for the finances of Udinese... some other big and strong forward had better arrive though

germans have been few but have established a legacy of excellence at Udinese (Neumann in the early 80's,Bierhoff),the premises are all positives: now i feel much more optimistic about next season!
    bye

    Bierhoff

I've read that the offer for Bierhoff includes a career as Udinese executive after his playing yers will be over. Do you know if that's true, bestianera?
Oliver is still loved in Friuli, has at least a couple of good years, maybe not 90' per games but 45' yes, and his sports history and behavior in and out the field would make him a good front man for the club.
Will he be intersted in this?

hehe. BigSoccer is an addiction. Welcome back, bestianera. I knew the disappointment and disillusion would fade away at least a little bit, eventually. It certainly helps that, if you hadn't noticed, every single post from during the World Cup (and everything else for that matter) got lost a week or so ago, and BigSoccer has had to start fresh. :D

    Re: Bierhoff

ce robonis! un furlàn tal Bigsoccer!
    ben trovàt!

how come you're not updated? it says clearly on both Messaggero Veneto and Gazzettino that eventually Jancker's age made the difference; Bierhoff was probably never more than a last resort in Marino's and Pozzo's eyes, smoke in the eyes of Bayern M.
with Iaquinta leaving (great!) Oliver would make a nice replacement but his salary demands are too high for that role at Udinese;reports suggest Chievo are the first in line for his services now
the door for a managerial career might be still open though, but a couple of years away

i have to correct the terms of the deal: it's now reported Udinese acquired the striker on joint-ownership for about €2.5 mil; Jancker signed a 5 year contract corresponding him € 600.000 annually.
and Mario,Jancker was actually benched after the first three WC matches; it remains a bargain IMO

now i'm willing to get a season ticket,i think we'll compete for the UEFA spots again,if Spalletti don't screw it up (i'm not sold on the 4-4-2)

    Boro draw with Udinese

Middlesbrough earned a creditable 2-2 draw with Udinese in a compelling pre-season friendly held in Gmunden, Austria...

Alaves Sign Luis Helguera On Loan

Alaves have signed Udinese midfielder Luis Helguera on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old, brother of Real Madrid's Ivan, said: "I am very happy with this move to Spain as it is near my house in Santander, which is important to me."

"Plus I will get the chance to play in the Uefa Cup."

he's slower and that makes all the difference; technically he's above avarage relatively to his role, and most of the times can make up for the lack of quickness with excellent positioning
has to play central or literally everyone will blow past him on the wings

he's achieved the key requisite of his position: consistency. you'll rarely get a weak performance by him but on the other side he seldom shines.
he's also not a scoring threat

very good teammate, stays in his place and won't cause any troble in the locker-room

basically a supporting midfielder and a reliable one; someone you buy to solidify the roster, not to make the next step

    the official website

    http://www.udinese.it/news/news.htm

has gone through a restyling and it's richer in content

here you can find the complete roster (expect some more transfers before the season starts though) with the uniform numbers for next season

the gallery is the place to find pics and videos and on this page you can find a map of Udine and how to reach the stadium and a couple of nice pictures of the stadium itself

you have questions to submit to Udinese or the single players? you can use this e-mail address to contact the club, which will eventually forward your e-mail to the players:

    contact@udinese.it

important news: Udinese Calcio has found the sponsor for the new season - Bernardi - a clothing distribution firm which has its headquarters in the province of Udine.
the amount of the contribution is undisclosed but will certainly top any previous deal (the last one with Ristora was € 1 million)

    let the ass-kicking begin! :D
