    Check it out:

My German is ehh, so I can't provide any of the fine details. Maybe someone here could help us out.

This would be an insanely great acquisition for Potsdam, especially since Sonja Fuss has headed back to Brauweiler.

My German is far from perfect, but it seems they are in agreement but the pappers are not signed yet. Jane is going down to Postdam between 11th and 18th and they hope everything should be finnished then.

Damallsvenskan Newsblogg have that news (in English) refering to several german articles and a denial from Jane about it:

You got it basically. There is an oral agreement, thus an understanding that she will join the team. No contract has been signed. Article says that she can play many positions and is particarly good with headers.

Also, the German article says she is the alternative to Ingvield Stensland because her club Klub Kolbotn IL wouldn't release her; she has a contract that runs to November.

    it also says that:
    -goalie Angerer and Hingst were on a 'secret mission' to get JT to sign w/ Turbine during their UEFA match after they found out Stenslund could not be released from contract;
-Angerer gave a diplomatic/cryptic message to the press about their other picks
-JT was on the 'shortlist' but not 'first choice' [Stenslund was], said Turbine coach. Stenslund could not be released in time, so Turbine would have had to pay more for her, whereas DIF 'agreed' to release JT straight away
-JT was in daily contact with Turbine--'called daily' for intense negotiations & was very interested
-part of deal was that JT not play in last week's match [not sure why she is then playing in today's match]
-says JT wants the UEFA cup trophy back again & that should be 'no problem' if she is on Turbine

If JT denies this, it is all very confusing due to the degree of detail, but possible it fell through, is not finalized, or she prefers it be a private matter.
one assumes after years of playing for nothing, anyone would be happy to accept a salary, esp. w/such an elite team.

I agree with secretcode that this is very confusing, but not more so than you often get trying to follow transfer deals on the men's side (e.g. Djurgården's men's side is currently involved in a very complicated affair with Schalke 04 concerning Djurgården's danish striker Sören Larsen). The basic rule that there isn't any deal until all papers are signed should be followed here too, and I think I strayed a bit from that in my first post in my newsblog.

What is certain is that Turbine Potsdam believes they are in agreement with Jane and her club. Their statements are fairly unambigious. Jane on the other hand seems to deny there is any deal - I use the word seems because the direct quotes from her is not as unambigious as the headline Damfotboll.com used when they published her comments. Djurgården/Älvsjö has not made any official comments. So far we don't have any deal.

The way I've been told the German transfer rules work, June 30 is the crucial date for transfers. If you play for your "old" team after that date you cannot play for a new until after the January transfer period. A German contact I talked this over with yesterday said "if Jane plays tomororrow, she won't come to Turbine". And she did play. So I think the transfer is dead.

But I'm also convinced there has been negotiations, and Turbine seems seriously convinced they had an agreement. It would be interesting to find out exactly what happened.

I was confused about that as well when seeing that Törnqvist played today.
From the newspapers here and the Turbine website it sounded like a done deal with coach Schröder being quoted that the swedish coach promised him not to let her play to make the change possible.

THanks, now that's a little unprofessionell, although I still don't know on which part.
Either they had reached an agreement and Törnqvist broke the contract or the deal wasn't finished but Potsdam went ahead publishing it as finished.

Perhaps she can transfer after January? Or maybe they will just take Stenslund or someone else by then. Am also curious if DIF made JT a last minute offer for a better contract... though DIF doesn't strike me as a club w/much $$, if Expressen's reportage about player incomes was accurate.

Well, Stensland is Potsdam's first choice and when the norwegian season is finished they will be able to compete with Kolbotn for her signature. And Törnqvist will probably be cup-tied for Djurgården/Älvsjö by then, so Potsdam shouldn't be able to use her in UEFA Women's Cup-matches.

But I think we've learned here that, even if it is flattering to get an offer from a club like Turbine and the pay might be decent, there are a lot of other things to consider for a player. If you get a multi-thousand euros a week pay-rise (common for swedish men that goes professional abroad) and gets to play in a better league, I can see that other things are of minor importance. But no woman player get's paid amounts that makes e.g. where you live a minor concern. And swedish players in the top teams are already playing for some of the world's best sides in one of the world's best leagues.

For what I can tell you:

    - yes, there was an agreement between both parts of this story
    - this agreement, made on the telephone, was made, because Törnqvist was asking 2 Potsdam players during the EC several times for a possibility to play for Turbine next season, after these requests, initiated by Törnqvist, the Potsdam players called - during the EC - their coaches to ask, if there is this possibility
    - finally Turbines president talked to Törnqvist, they made an agreement on the telephone (thursday last week)
    - there were no problems between the presidents of both clubs, Potsdams president talked to DIFs president about the possibility of an transfer of Törnqvist, Darnelle was fine with that, afterwards Potsdams president talked to Törnqvist
    - Törnqvist backed down on late Friday - seemed, she wasn't really sure about going to Potsdam, talked about some personal reasons and the point, that she is an important player for her team concerning the bad standing of DIF in Damallsvenska.
    - Törnqvist is not longer a topic for a transfer at TP.

I have no reason, not to believe what the Potsdam-players where telling about Janes requests during the EC.
It's possible - and I write this without any rating, not positive, not negative - that after getting to know, Jane is willing to go 2 TP, her club (DIF) tried with a lot of power to convince her, to stay in Stockholm. (IMHO - that's a pitty for TP, I'd have liked, to have her in our team, but such things happen, that's sport too.)

If you have further questions, just ask. I will _try_ to answer!

    Sunny greetings from Germany!
