The best source for Rapids news, http://www.rapidsfan.com indicates if the Rapids finish third, the first home playoff game will be Halloween night, probably guaranteeing a low attendance unless, and this is where you come in, the Rapids come up with some promotions to entice the kids away from the traditional trick or treating and bring them to the games. Here are a few starters.

The Traditional
- Trick or Treat booths - Setup around the stadium for kids, in costume, to get treats.
- Best Costume Prizes, lots of them.

The "un traditional"
- Prize for the Best Spencer costume (points for actually shaving their head???)
- Prize for the Best Pablo Slide Tackle Victim (gauze, crutches, blood, that kind of thing)

I'm going to have a very difficult time making this game due to prior comittment (for obvious reasons). I don't know why the Broncos are being so anal. Their next game is Monday night not Sunday. Man, I can't wait until we can collectively lift our middle fingers to the Mile - Hi stadium dopes and kiss that place goodby!!!!!!

Haunted house depicting mainly the first half of the Rapids season. Each room in the house has a T.V. screen replaying a different game---one with a scary starting lineup, one with a surprise overtime loss, one with frightening officiating... Hosted by a phantom Frenchman. People standing in line outside the house can hear the gasps and screams and curses. Not for the squeamish.

I thought that someone here posted info from their ticket rep that the game would be Nov. 1 if we end up in third?

The game being on Oct 31st would be simply the worst thing that they could do.

Turnout would be, for lack of a better description, abysmal. I mean, really abysmal. Like, I bet 5,000. 5,000 for a playoff game is not something to be proud of. Lots of people would simply not be able to make this game, between trick or treating kids (family friendly and all that good stuff), parties, etc. This is a friday night, making it a prime party and trick or treat night for halloween this year.

(besides, I fear that if we had kids and sent them trick or treating, the stadium might try to pawn off one of those "cooked 15 hours ago" Freschetta pizzas on us :)

Lets hope the Rapids just say no to a halloween game.

Re: Re: Trick or Treat

That was me ... and bad news ... I rechecked with my rep and the response was different.

She said that it would be the 1st or 31st. It's won't be finalized until Monday. But that sort of sounds like it may be on the 31st. Which would make me VERY unhappy because I bought tickets for others that won't go if it's the 31st and I'd be stuck with $75 worth of tickets!

It would be nice if they could make it the 29th or 30th.

I think we'd have to send Pat Bowlen a dozen roses and a copy of Drive West for that.

The next Broncos game is a Monday Nighter, Nov 3rd. I would think that they would be able to prep the stadium in time for a Monday night game.

At least one person in the front office has mentioned that they're working on the 30th, for what it's worth. Cross your fingers.

No game on Halloween!

From today's Rapidfire e-mail:

If the Rapids finish third in the Western Conference, the game
in Denver will be played at Invesco Field on TUESDAY, NOV. 4TH at 7:30
p.m.

Fan freaking tastic. That is the best news I have had in weeks. Playing on Halloween was the worst idea since the opening game lineup.

"TUESDAY, NOV. 4TH at 7:30 p.m."

So I guess that means we get to see the nice bright white lines from game the night before and the end zone pictures. Sorry, I don't think this is much better. Why not Saturday night? A week (school) night is better? If those are the only two choices then Tuesday it a better choice, but not by much.

Based on the email it also appears Seth is taking Pablo's spot. I guess we're shooting for third place.

The bad news is, as a weeknight game, the attendance will probably suck anyway.

The good news is, I wouldn't have to worry about whether my request for getting the 1st off from work is approved (working til 7pm now). :D

It's better for me, at least. I was in the position of not seeing another home game and, with the season ending string of games not televised, it was almost like the Raps dropped off the map. With two trick or treat age kids, there was no way I could go if it was Halloween night. Now I can see the playoff run, if nothing else.

I have no idea why they couldn't play on Saturday, the ideal solution. That blows. But between Firday and Tuesday, Tuesday was my only shot.
Not having the games on at the end of the year has been incredibly painful.I hope to hell this is not repeated. Just when you think the franchise is going places, you get hit with that BS. I doubt that the lack of games on TV is going to help attendance either.

The best thing that could happen of course is that KC looses tonight and we don't botch it all up like usual. If that happens then we will get game 2. Now suppose we go into KC and tie 0-0 or 1-1 then we have the possiblility of a large crowd. Remember when we went to the cup? We had won on the road and the return game was in Denver on a weekday night. I think it was Wednesday. Over 18,000 fans got into that game. It was a total zoo outside the stadium before the game. Thousands and thousands of people trying to pick up their tix at will call. And thousands more trying to purchase tix. We could have seen 25k had the front-office provided more ticket booths to be open.

You just never know.

Well Tuesday it is. Rapids completely self destructed.

At least the RMNews ran an article in today's paper about how there was no TV coverage and it sucked.

Totally bummed out.
