Yes, everybody's happy that the great teams are doing well in Europe so far. But take a look at the table after two weeks:

    Roma 6 2 2 0 0 7 1 1 0 0 5 0 1 0 0 2 1
    Juventus 6 2 2 0 0 7 2 1 0 0 5 1 1 0 0 2 1

The "five sisters" all at the top on 100% records while half of the teams have 0 or 1 points. Reggina has two ties - good enough to be in the top half of the standings!! The split between the haves and have-nots in Serie A is simply bigger than ever.

    Udinese's coach Luciano Spalletti opines:

Anybody think this is a problem? A few years ago it was the "Seven Sisters" (with Parma - still doing well but not considered a Scudetto contender) and Fiorentina counted in the top group as well. Clubs such as Udinese and Bologna and, lately, Chievo - seemed to be good organizations, able to pull together and beat the big teams on certain days. But now even those teams seem to be falling away.

I think that this exists throughout the European leagues. Only La Liga recently has had smaller clubs challenge for the title. Bosman and its aftermath has produced a system that should logically result in a European "Super League". A Super League with teams which have worldwide recognition.

That last step has never been taken because it would really damage the existing national leagues. This situation will persist until UEFA really decides what it wants the future to be. Quite frankly, it gets really boring to see the same clubs competing for the title every year.
