[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OK4UGAl_Lw"]YouTube- Del Piero Goal - Juventus VS Shamrock Rovers - Free Kick‎[/ame] All these talks over amauri, this player and that player.....people have forgotten one of the greatest forwards of italy...and he's still rocking.....he might not be able to play full 90 but i still believe he is the best super sub im not sure why he was left out of italy squad for so long, especially since the forward position has been horrible
He is an excellent player. I think he should be awarded the golden ball in 1996. It's sad to see that he was usually used as a sub in the Italian national team.
since he hasnt been given a chance in years...even in 2006 he was a sub i believe last year he also scored more goals than amauri playing 1/3 of what amauri played...yet amauri gets a call up and possibly starts while better ITALIAN forwards arent. I still dont get how u guys are not pissed off about that...lol...if amauri saves italy somehow it'll be same as inter winning last year, no respect from rest of the world
The Mighty Shamrock Rovers, how did Juventus do it? Nice goal, keeper could have had it. But beyond all that, let's look to the future not be stuck in the past. Ah...Amauri out! Okaka in!
With all due respect to Del Piero but he's 36 now. It's time to close that chapter. He was at the last Euro and wasn't quite the super sub. We should be happy he got to win a World Cup and remember him for his goal against Germany. Time for a new generation, all things end.
That's all fine and dandy, but I think it's safe to say that it's time for the NT to move forward, and it's rather difficult to do that when you're calling up players in their mid-late 30's. I'll always have nothing but respect for ADP, but sometimes you just gotta let things go. He got to raise the World Cup, and was rightfully granted a call up in 2008 as a 34 year old, which isn't something that too many players can say. Time to move on.
post after post I continue to agree with you haha. I knew when I clicked this thread I was going to regret it. coming from a Juve fan please lets move on, he is a legend but his time has come. I don't even want him on the bench for Juve anymore, forget about the national team. A set piece goal in an august Europa League qualifier against an Irish club side (no disrespect), means absolutely nothing. Giovinco could have scored that same goal [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22uDIzkl-zk&feature=related"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22uDIzkl-zk&feature=related[/ame] Del Piero out, Giovinco and Forestieri in
ADP could never fill Baggio's shoes and got tagged with the "no show" label in big international matches. Not saying it was deserved, it just happened. Totti also got some of that post-Baggio "not meeting expectation" label. Both were great players for the azzurri but it is time to move on and move forward.
im not saying he should come back, im just saying its sad that he was forgotten all these years when there really wasnt many players better than him. And the euro 08 was just a disaster campaign like WC 10 so u cant say he didnt do anything...when the midfield doesnt deliver,u cant expect anything from a forward.
Forgotten? ADP will never be forgotten, he is one of the last great "Bandieri" in the world of football, one of a dying breed. Love Juve or hate them, he wont be forgotten. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-vGEfTZD6c&feature=related"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-vGEfTZD6c&feature=related[/ame] one of the greatest Juve moments of the last 5 years, I'll never forget watching this, the stadium applaud was incredible.
I remember watching that game. Casillas set up one of the WORST walls I have ever seen, there was a foot and a half gap between the end of the wall and the post. I just screamed at the TV: "DON'T YOU SEE, HE'S JUST GOING TO KICK IT IN THE CORNER!" He kicked it in the corner.
I remember ADP in earlier cups (pre 2006) being a constant diver...every time he touched the ball he'd go down like a sack of bricks. He has since changed even as he's gotten older...and for the better I mean. That goal against the Germans is etched in my brain probably for life as are some of his magnificent goals in Serie A. That being said, he was NEVER in the same realm as Baggio. LOL.
The forgotten hero? No Way [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIEclbT1bFY"]YouTube- Alessandro del Piero 3!!!‎[/ame] .
I actually appreciate more the player he has become post-injury. He was world class before that but a world class diver at best.
ADP was a great player in his prime but no way no how anything close to what Baggio was! Baggio was just on a different level.
