Is there any data out there that would show where the majority of Power fans come from when they go to Mitchell?
well out of our little group that we have 2 from New Jersey 2 from Long Island 1 from Mass. 1 from AZ. (LOL) 1 from Staten Island, closer to the NJ border! and then hmm u can throw in the Pearce's and Webber's drive from NJ as well! Like i keep saying on a good day it's 2 hours, on a bad day it's 4-5 hour drive with traffic!
Well when they had that Charge vs Power preseason game here in NJ, we had a REALLY nice showout. Dont they get it?? NJ is MUCH more of a soccerholic state than NY. MOVE TO NJ, FOR A YEAR AT LEAST, to see how things go. It wouldnt hurt being that they probably wont get any better attendance in NY.
I read this and looked around the other websties and thought it was funny that we have the worst attendence but also the highest prices for individual tickets.....every other team has ten or twelve dollar tickets for adults and we only have it for kids....kids maybe going to the games but the adults are buyin the tickets....even the liberty games and they are an established team have 8 dollar tickets available....i think the tickets are to high for a such a young franchise....they need to build a fan base before they jack up ticket prices
Move to CT!!!!! That way (with any luck) Webber won't wanna play that far from home and Lilly will ask to be traded so she can be closer to home!!!!!
Is it me or did the Power do less advertising for the team than last year? When you're 3-17-1, the fans won't come out regardless of where the team plays. The MetroStars were so desperate to find a site for for their US Open Cup match that the only facility that was adequate enough they could find was Mitchell Field, so what makes the Power think they can do better? Regardless of where (or if) they move, they're going to need to step up their marketing efforts. Also, the WUSA is going to need to step in and help out because right now the team is basically Milbrett and a bunch of nobody's.
From memory, back when I was running their site, their demographic was all over the place, the City, NJ, Long Island etc. I cannot help but wonder if they will play in Jersey next season. Did anybody attend the game against the Charge at 'Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ' in the pre-season? How was the turnout? I wonder if it is a prospective site... To get a little more radical, I really suggest that the Power 'move' around the tri-state area, playing a few games in several locations. It'll kill season ticket sales, but from what I have heard they are very little anyway. :L
I did with Mel, like I said above..I dont know the attendance though. It was really great though. Many high school kids as it was their school, but still a very good turnout. Theres no way they would be able to play their games on that field though..maybe the area but not at that site.
It is at the high school on their high school property. Its their football field, soccer field, and some other fields I think. I think its turf. The schoolboard wouldnt allow it because the kids wouldnt have some places to practice on. Plus its just not a professional womens soccer venue.
St. John's University is building a new soccer stadium on campus. I have not been around to check it out in some time, but I understand it will be quite nice.

Maybe in another thread. But why not upgrade it a bit to hold say 10,000. That is all that is needed right now. And 6000 in a 10,000 seats stadium would look and feel pretty good. Anyway, my wife had an interview with the Power for an internship (she is trying to break into sports marketing) so everyone call up the Power and tell them to hire her! (Just kidding!) But as I told my wife, the Power are so god-awful, they may actually need her in midfield.
they will never play at SJU. it holds 3,000 people. the neighbors tried to stop the minor league Queens Kings from building a baseball stadium there in '98 b/c the said it would create to much noise/traffic and the lights were too bright at night. SJU went through the same problem when they decided to build the soccer stadium. they were allowed to do it b/c they said it would only hold 3,000 and they would not upgrade it.
What about a place in Lower Westchester on the MetroNorth? Sarah Lawrence College is a thought, or maybe Iona College (?) I'm not sure what their facilities are but they might be places to look. I think it would be great to have them up here (i grew up in Ossining) but the advertisement is nill- it would be smart of the organization to advertise on train platforms. On the other hand, rumor is that the Metros are going to be building a soccer-specific for themselves to avoid paying rent/facilities fee to the Giants organization. Could the Power get in on this?
I hope so, cause it is in Kearny (Sp?) NJ...and that is on exit 16ish on the turnpike, ONLY 45 MINS FROM WHERE I LIVE! also it's not far from the City, nor the GWB etc. etc. also it's a soccer specific stadium...maybe it would bring the action a little closer to the fans, AND AND A JUMBO TRON!!!
