I just read that Schalke is purportedly ready to ink Kuranyi to a new contract. That, in and of itself, is noteworthy. But equally noteworthy was the article's comments re. Kuranyi's Stuttgart salary and his Schalke salary. Apparently, he gets paid 200,000 euros/year now, and under Schalke's proposal, he would get paid 1,000,000 euros/year. These numbers strike me as incredibly low (especially for one who has seen inflated US professional athlete salaries). I would also assume that this is pre-tax, which means his take-home would only be maybe 100,000 euros/year on his Stuttgart salary. Could these numbers possibly be right? Will Kuranyi only make 200,000 euros this season? Or is that just a base salary, with significant bonuses payable to him (and if so, how much compensation would one expect him to be paid)? Same thing with the alleged Schalke salary--is that all he would make, or is that just the "tip of iceberg," with bonuses making him much more highly paid (and how much more highly paid)?
It is known that Kuranyi earned 60.000 per year when he was moved up from the reserves to the pros. He received a loan rise - might be 200 K - but I think this number is just speculation. However, I doubt that he'd sign a contract for 1 M now... I'd tax him to 2.5 M salary with his next contract. Tax has to be reduced, 40% off after the tax reform (so far 51%)
Ailton will earn something above 4 Million € in Schalke. I really doubt that Kuranyi will get only 1 Million €.
Anyone hear about AC Milan's interest in him? Even if it were true I think he's too young to go now, and he will most likely not play while Schevchenko and Inzaghi are around.
kuranyi's salary is rated between 500.000 and 600.00 euro a year. vfb raised it during last season. as olaf i would rate him at least 2,5 mio a year plus signing fee (especially if he leaves in 2005 on a free transfer). jonam, http://www.schwatzgelb.com
I love Kuranyi but your right there is little chance he is coming to Milan this year or next while Pippo and Sheva are still playing together. And don't forget Milan also have Tomasson. If Kuranyi is indeed coming to Milan it won't be until the 2005/06 season at the earliest. Remember, Milan were tracking Sheva for several seasons before they finally signed him. The same could happen to Kuranyi.
