Nielsen To Referee Turkey V England Clash Turkey - England | Latest News | News Archive 09/20/2003. The referee that sent off David Beckham during the 1998 World Cup has been chosen to take charge of England's potentially volatile Euro 2004 qualifing decider against Turkey next month. Danish referee Kim Nielsen has refereed a number of Manchester United matches involving Beckham, but this will be the first time he has taken charge of England since he famously showed the red-card to Beckham for a kick at Diego Simeone. England need to avoid defeat in Istanbul to secure their place in the finals in Portugal next summer.
??? I wouldn't worry about that, there is more chance that England and Denmark are working together as all 3 ref's are English in the match Bosnia-Denmark and there is a Danish ref @ Turkey-Denmark...I just hope the uefa isn't bull***ing again.
Actually, Bosnia has filed a complaint about that. Seriously, there's nothing to worry about. You can disagree with his choices from time to time, but there's no way Kim Milton Nielsen is consciously going to let anything influence his judgment, he's far too profesional. He might be influenced by the home teams fans, to give the home team an advantage, unconciously, as many refs do, but he won't be thinking about Denmarks game. And the english ref knows that too. Noones treating the balkan nations unfairly, it's just that many balkan fans/officials are overpassionate, and get furious as soon as anything isn't going their way, trying to make obscure conspiracy theories to cover up the fact that no team, or country, is per definition the best in the world. I _have_ seen many different international sports games on balkan, where the fans and officials seem sensible, so I guess there's 2 sides in this, as there always is. But the way the Romanian press tried to haunt the ref from the Denmark-Romania game, threatening him, and encouraging people to take "revenge" on him, or the way the home crowd treated Norway in the Bosnia-Norway game.. That doesn't belong anywhere. And unfortunately, it's something we see too often on balkan.
N/m, Milton has just been injured, i think, I just got the tail end of the message on radio. They said Milton wouldn't be able to ref the Turkey game, for whatever reason.
