We're hearing different things. Some are saying that he re-hurt his ankle/foot this summer and isn't in shape for 90 minutes yet. Some say that he was in trouble for something with McGinty and was being punished. Don't know exactly but the team looks dramatically different when he's on the field.

SLU is also without Anthony Manning who was on the Hermann Trophy Watch List. Solid CB who pretty much never made a mistake in the back. He hurt his knee in offseason workouts and then injured his other knee rehabbing his first injury. SLU plays a pretty classic diamond midfield so they've had to move some people around. Tyler David has been moved back to CB when he was supposed to play CDM and David Graydon was moved from CAM to CDM. Graydon is the key to SLU's team. He's only 5'5 but he has great vision and is the most creative player on the team. Lead the team in assists last year playing CAM and he generates the offense. There is just no offense when he plays this far back. No word on if Manning will be back any time soon.

But LSE's actual mascot is the same as Oregon State's, or in other words, Martinez turned from a 'Cock into a Beaver.

@fknbuflobo, is that closer to the level of humor you expect around here? :D

35 minutes gone in Akron and no goals.
Zips playing with all the energy of pissed off hornets.
VCU pinned back and reduced to knocking long balls to their 2 forwards, totally by passing their midfield.
Shot count must be @ least 12-4.
2 big saves from VCU keeper.

This Maryland-UNC game on ESPN3 is bananas. 2-2 late in the first half. Maryland's defense is shambolic and on both Tar Heel goals the Terps 1-v-1 defending was awful.

On the first, Dan Metzger got faked out of his jock by Jordan McCrary and took him down for a PK that was converted easily by Raby George. On the second, Tar Heel freshman Omar Holness collected the ball on UNC's side of the center circle and dribbled straight towards goal without ANYONE stepping up and he got inside the 18 and used Suli Dainkeh as a shield and easily beat Zack Steffen.

Fortunately for Maryland they have Schillo Tshuma. He collected a blocked shot after some really nice build-up by the Terps and scored from the top of the 18 to open the game's scoring. Then as Maryland was reeling he used a screen and hit a low shot from about 25 yards and just caught the inside of the corner to make it 2-2, which is the score heading into halftime.

Tshuma also should have earned a PK. Got his shirt clearly pulled in the box but the ref swallowed the whistle. Easily could have been called.

Start of OT in Dallas TU 1, UMKC 1... Tulsa outshot UMKC 28 to 12 in regulation.
UMKC scored in the 79 min in a game in which TU dominates in possession and shots, but Christian Mata scores the equalizer in the 84th

Meanwhile, Wake Forest taking it to Virginia, 2-0 at halftime.

I wonder if Jeff Gal is regretting leaving the No. 1 team in the country. Of course, he doesn't have to live in Omaha now!

BTW, Maryland's Dakota Edwards finally made his season debut midway through the first half. Hopefully that helps settle down the Terps defense.

A few minutes into OT2, Tulsa now has 34 shots but still only one goal, game still tied in Dallas.

Marquette scores in the 89th minute to win at Michigan 1-0. I believe the goal came off a long throw in.

    Wake survives against Virginia, 3-2.

Up 3-0 in the 2nd, Wake started making subs en masse around the 25 minute mark and almost gave the game away. UVa had a free header to tie it with about 30 seconds left, but the Wake GK made a fingertip save to preserve the victory.

    Scoring:
    Wake - Giminez, Gamble, Okoli
    UVa - Bird, Lima

Marquette 1: 0 Michigan, final. Marquette scored in the last minute on a long throw in. Their tall guy Sjoberg got the assist, Pothast with the goal.
    Shots 12 Marquette, 10 Michigan
    Fouls 13 Marquette, 5 Michigan
Winning with more fouls than shots is rarely pretty but credit to Marquette for the victory

Cal with a 1-1 tie at Penn St. Not a bad road result, but won't help their ranking.
