It's good to see an outside party setting a deadline on some decisions. So far the parties involved have worked forward but without any sort of deadline on the horizon it doesn't seem like they continue to make it a front burner issue. Now they know they only have months to advance the project, approve it, fund it, lock it in etc... The note at the bottom disturbs me though: Why is it owners pop up to want a team only after San Jose has been moved. Oh hey, yeah we'd want it but we just wanted to add a 10mil expansion fee on top of our other costs and now come in as an expansion and field the 2nd string quaility players for a couple of years. Should've done it this year. San Jose's only been on the block for a couple of years now.
its nice that the sss will be brought to the forefront now, and not the depressing issue of not having the team. maybe the chicken egg will break soon.
Supposedly one of the conditions of AEG selling the Quakes was that they'd still have some sort of control over a new stadium (facility management, getting a cut of concert business, that sort of thing). It probably makes more financial sense for an interested owner to come in as an expansion team with AEG cut out of the stadium loop. Just a guess.
