Return of little Mikie in an enemy shirt. Need to get back on winning ways. Lineup: ----------Reina Finnan--JC--Sami----Riise Gerrard--Xabi--Momo--Kewell -------Crouch--Morientes Dudek Garcia FSP Djimmy Cisse
Now this match is far more importanta than the sao pablo affair.Anything but 3 points will make life real though if we wana challenge the top 2.Im sure well keep up our good EPL form, and hopefully another clean sheet. And i would agree with Liverbirds formation, but i would rather have crouch and cisse up front. The newcastle defence is poor, and we need to exploit that.
Agreed, and after today they'll be well rested... Lineup- ----------Reina Finnan--Cara--Sami--Riise ----------Momo ------SG--Xabi--Kewell ------Crouch--Cisse Carson Moro Garcia Didi Djimmy FSP
I like this, although I might have Didi screening the back four instead of Momo. Maybe we can have a proper minute of silence before this one, too. Damn Brazilians . . .
Didi can come on after the inevitable yellow is dealt to Momo (v. Shearer no doubt). I like the idea of Momo cruising around as a figure of menace in front of the back four. It'll give Mikey and Shearer a reason to keep their heads on a swivel. T308
Winning ways, indeed. We need to be alert to little Mickey's artful ways. Yesterday he had about four cracks at West Ham and scored three times (granted the goalie was Roy Carroll). We need to put away any good of the openings we create.
It was West Ham after all. It is the midfield that matters. If we defend hard from the front Mikie won't have any service. Sami can handle Shearer, so it will be Jamie on his (former) roommate.
someone's gotta take care of Scott Parker... he's been somewhat turning it on for them it'd be interesting to see Shearer try and bully Carra speed-wise i think Traore's (gasp!) probably the only one who can catch Owen
That was a weird hattrick by Owen in their last game...but they have what we lack--a deadly scorer...two of them...they dont need as many chances as we do to score...but we are a better team and in our EPL unbeaten streak we have usually controlled possesion and vs Newcastle it shouldnt (it wont) be any different...should be (will be) another win on our road to 2nd place cause lets face it...Chelsea wont drop any points...they just dont lose in the EPL...champs league is another story though
Newcastle may be getting most of their wounded back from hospital. If Emre is able to go full tilt, then they will have a more creative midfield than against Arsenal ( the red card to Silva being what did the Gunners in ) or the draw with Villa. The Maggies have been playing very creditable football, and talking about Hammers as if they were completely second rate is foolish. Me, I'll be glad if Newcastle is unable to score, but I think they can prise a goal out of Liverpool's defences. The question, then, is whether the Reds can score two against a defense that will have the three Bs coming back from injury, if all can play. I like Liverpool's chances, but after the snakebit match against Sao Paolo, I fear the worst.
West Ham were duly punished for failing to covert territorial domination into goals as all li'l Mickey needs is a couple of sniffs at goal. My main worry is that we may not get away with the profligacy we showed againt Sao Paolo. We need to be ruthless with any chances we create, in which case Cisse (or Sinama-Pongolle) may be worth starting with, alongside one of Crouch or Morientes, to exploit any "switching off" by defenders. All indications are that the three B's wil be back as will Emre. Newcastle's biggest weakness has been right across the back line (they have a top shot-stopper in Givens, though). Emre is bloody good and Parker is alright but I think Solano is no longer the cutting edge he used to be.
Actually he needs to be elbowed a bit. I simply meant that he won't run away from anyone, and needs physical marking, which is right up Sami's alley.

momo is suspended for this game as is parker for newcastle so I expect to see alonso and gerrard in the middle of our midfield against newcastle and alonso and sissoko in the middle against everton .
--- elbow in jaw, in the first three minutes, then once every eight minutes until half-time. repeat when necessary. Shearer is such a talent, but he's a bit on the crafty side ( dirty, but we can't say that, can we? ).
Newcastle were basically owned against West Ham, but because of their sick counter-attackiing, they pulled four goals out of their ass.
It will be good to see Michael back at Anfield but he will be going home a loser this time . With Parker out they don't really have much of a midfield really and it's going to be clash of the giants when Sami and Shearer get it on on the pitch . We are looking to bounce back after the Paulo match and this could be a good one. The lads will STOP Owen . I predict 2-0 scousers. Don't really care who scores just put boot it in the back of Givens net.
