    The Rookies:

    1. Nikki Washington
    2. Casey Nogueira
    3. Kiersten Dallstream
    4. Michelle Enyeart
    5. Kiki Bosio
    6. Estelle Johnson
    7. Mary Casey
    8. Lindsay Browne

    The Veterans:

    9. Brittany Bock
    10. Shannon Boxx
    11. Stephanie Cox
    12. Tina DiMartino
    13. Karina LeBlanc
    14. Manya Makoski

    The Internationals:
    15. Marta
    16. Aya Miyama
    17. Julie Rydahl Bukh
    18. Pavlina Scasna
    19. Cathrine Paaske-Sörensen

It has been said that the Breakers have all 5 INTL spots filled....So,

I know Tony is high on Kiersten Dallstream, I'd hope Tony thinks she'd be available at #12. I cannot see Nikki Washington or Casey Nogueira being there at 5 but if one is I don't think you could pass on either of them....

I love KK but I think we're actually in good shape with Alli and Aly...Besides, KK told us last year she hates the turf! :)

I actually hope we get Tina DiMartino at #5. If nothing else, I think it would be a great story to have all three sisters together in Boston...

    We shall see!

DiMartino is a nice player but there are several domestic players better than she available in the dispersal draft. Boxx, Bock, Washington, Dallstream are four. You guys need defensive help and a left back, too, no? Coxx would likely fit better on the field w/ your team than DiMartino. If you go domestic rather than international, then look to one of these 5.

I think Washington and Nogueira would both be better picks than DiMartino...If they are available at #5. I don't want Shannon Boxx, I've never been a fan.

I could deal with Bock or Cox over DiMartino...IDK I'd just like to see all the DiMartino's together...Who knows with the talent available she could be there at #12.

Tony's said publicly that he wanted Dallstream....He'd probably pick her if we had the first pick ffs....I don't know enough about her to say one way or the other.

Do you really think that Gina DiMartino is going to make the roster? Particularly given the dispersal of LA players? I'm not so sure.

Do you really not have any open international slots? Who is taking up your slots? Smith, Scott, Fabiana (is she signed?), and ?? I'm just saying...

Oh. Thought Latham had gotten a greencard. That does change the accounting. I assume then that the "personal reasons" for which Del Rio had to leave Frankfurt will be cleared up by the summer. Thanks for posting the list.

    No worries.

And no offense to Latham and Del Rio but I think Rydahl Bukh and Paaske-Sörensen are better. But that's just me on limited viewing. They might not fit in at all. And Latham is apparently a good teammate.

Why would you give up 2 young national team players for soon to be 33 year old Shannon Box. That makes no sense.

I agree, I cannot see St. Louis giving that up for Boxx....I honestly hope they do because they would be so much better with Marta!

It would be the stupidest move in history by Athletica.....

    I'd love it!:D

I think the big prize after marta is the GK Leblanc. What other teams after St Louis will grab her ? Philadelphia traded for Val Henderson...Gold Pride have Barnhart..Breakers may get a crack at Leblanc.

Athletica trades for No. 1 pick in Dispersal Draft, Marta is part of draft

What should be made clear about Marta is this: She will be in the Dispersal Draft. Contrary to reports, there is no bidding process that will take place for her. What will determine where she goes is individual teams making business decisions regarding her play and her salary, among other factors.

Unconfirmed reports have pegged Marta's salary at around $400,000 - $500,000 annually. The league cannot officially comment on any player salaries and has not confirmed that number.

As with any athlete, there are more financial considerations than just the salary cap. Those include out of contract compensation, such as player appearances, sources said.

So, it is too quick to say that Marta is destined for Saint Louis (I will bite my own tongue on that one as well). There are still a host of situations that could play out. The team that does pick her up has to determine if the marketing and on-field benefit trumps the financial responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the Beat still feel that they can pick up a solid player at No. 9 (and obviously, a starter). McGee credits the Sol's great depth to LA General Manager Charlie Naimo being on top of things.

Reports out of the Saint Louis Dispatch are that Athletica will take Shannon Boxx with the first pick, though the entire draft is still very unclear.

“We were presented with an opportunity to make our club better,” said Head Coach Jorge Barcellos. “We gave up some talented young players to do this. I want to thank Kia and Angie for the hard work that they did last season, they were a big part of the success that Athletica enjoyed in our first year. We wish them all the best in their careers.”

And who did St. Louis drop to add 2 Internationals?? Or do they get 6 this year?

I'd love to see the contracts, salaries/salary cap numbers of the teams....It's tough to make sense of alot of these decisions without that knowledge...

I guess we'll have to wait for a players union so Goff can leak them!:p

Unknown and realistically she may not be a factor for much or all of 2010.

At #12 she was the top player remaining on our board regardless, with other remaining players either having international status (we are full), having undesirable contract terms or simply not rating against current needs.
