Carlos Ruiz has to slow it down... he is on Friggin' fire right now.

Has he played himself outta here?

Talking to a dude in Spain... he know's who Carlos Ruiz is. Says they describe him over on Spanish TV as the Best thing in MLS.

Since the WC the world has been watching MLS more closely now.. and what they see is a super striker who is 22. has upside like crazy. and isnt making jack here.

He can go and make immediatley 10 times in europe what he makes here... and that same euro team would call it a minor gamble.

Any Solutions or resolutions to this happening?

Here is a solution. Buy the guy's card and set the transfer fee. let the MLS cash in on this stud. The MLS can only develop him for a few years, then it's time to let him grow in another league. I don't expect to see him after 2003, hell I'm crossing my fingers he comes back for 2003.

Hell my old man thinks Ruiz is the real deal. And this from a man who doesn't believe the MLS should search for talent in Central America when most of the players from leagues in South America can probably come here for the same cost; Argentina or El Salvador? But that's a whole different argument.

I think the things that are going to keep him here another year, is that he seems to be having a great time here, he gets all the support in the world from the fans (i think he's stole the most popular role from Ceinfuegos), he seems to have his family life in order, and damnit, it's about time we have a great player for a few years.

One slight problem to all this. The league didn't buy Fish outright. Municipal still own rights and rumor has it that Nexica have been talking to them about buying him.

Fish is going to be returning to Municipal once the G's season is over. He's done so well that I can see a real possibility that he won't be back.

On the flip side however, if he does go to Europe, this could be a good thing. Using the MLS as a stepping stone to Europe (didn't Luis hope to do that?) could be more talent out of Central America to the league....not all of these players will make the next step (on to Europe) and young talent wanting to play here has to be good overall.
