OK, so now that the summer is over I have to get off my duff and find a winter activity. I was wondering who and where in terms of a league. I would love to join a team if anyone was willing to take an arse like me under their wing this winter for a league. I haven't played in a while so I am eager to play some this winter. Let me know what's up.
Sorry Looper, I'm not in the indoor loop (sorry), but there is a facility in King of Prussia I have heard about (Gold's Gym maybe) and another in Delaware County - Tri State Sports Complex, I think - that have leagues. I have also heard of a place in Plymouth Meeting (terrible spelling I'm sure...forgive me, I've had a few pints) on Ridge Ave near the REI store at Swedes Rd. If you have no luck with them, PM me...I may know of another weekly game in a rather unsuspected place.
Check Rocket Sports online (Google it). I play up there but our team doesn't have any spots. Sorry bro. Best way is to show up and look for teams that are short on players. That is how I got started. Fun league. Coed 7-on-7 plays on Thursday. Games start at 6. Sunday men's league plays all day starting at 8:45. Good league, varying skill levels. No slide tackles but the games can get heated. Stay away from Manyuank Sport and Social unless you like seeing the occasional hot chick running around. Mostly heffers. The only good thing is you get to drink at the Bayou afterwards. You won't even break a sweat if you have no skill.
Thanks, I the Individuals start tomorrow in the B-league. Figures, just my luck. I wish they didn't start at 6, there is no way in hell I can make it there by then...I will think about it...Thanks.
Looper-- You might also try the Philadelphia Sport and Social Club (just google it to find their web site). They run a coed indoor league at the Gold's Gym in King of Prussia, which will be starting up in January. You can just sign up as an individual player, and they'll put you on a team. I've played in that league, as well as out at Rocket Sports, and I found that the level of play at Rocket Sports is a bit more competitive than the level of play in the Philly Sport and Social Club league. So if you're looking for something more laid back, you should check out the Philly Sport and Social Club league (they also have an outdoor league in the spring, summer and fall).
Man, how many other people here play at Rocket Sports? I play for the Whalers in the Tuesday night league.
It's been a couple of years since I've played out at Rocket Sports. I'd love to play there, but I have a tough time persuading my teammates to sign up for the league -- they prefer the more laid back Philly Sport and Social Club league. And I have to admit that over at Rocket Sports, I'm probably a below-average player (although still competent), while at PSSC, I'm probably a bit above-average.
I know of another indoor facility that opened up about 15 minutes up 422, but I can't recall the name. My buddy said the fields are NextTurf and no walls, which I like to keep the pingball soccer down to a minimium. IIRC they also play with full size goals. I am going to try to play next week and I will update everyone. Peace and good luck playing.
Gotcha...I didn't even know of other leagues. I am probably the worst soccer player in history so you can't be as bad as me.
Here are links to the web sites of the Rocket Sports League and the Philly Sport and Social Club League: http://www.rocketsports.com/ http://www.phillysportandsocialclub.com/ D-Wall, if you make it out to the new facility on 422, let us know how it is and what the league looks like.
