It's good to see the Don is quick on the spin. That's what a Commissioner is paid to do.

It's not spin, it's indifference. Basically saying "who cares?" in an innocuous manner. Really it has nothing to do with MLS one way or the other, so it's exactly the attitude he should have.

I would suspect MLS/SUM wished WUSA had waited until after the World Cup to decide to fold.

I wonder how all that ad revenue they're counting on for the WWC will be effected by all this.

On the one hand I can see alll the negative press giving sponsors pause as to decide to buy air time.

On the other, there may be a huge counter-sympathy vote whereby many people will feel like this is their "last" time to see all the great soccer-playing women in one place/tournament and it might increase ratings, attention, etc.

    Who knows.

That press release certainly was a whole lot of nothing.

You're dead on about that. I don't know if MLS HQ had any advance warning about this, but they're probably in some form of panic or crisis mode at the moment. Not because they're concerned that their league is under too, just because of the perception of a soccer league dying in the United States. Very smart thing for MLS to do. We're very sorry for your loss, but we're still very much opened for buisness.

I wonder if Ivan Gazadis (sp?) is telling Donnie G "We're like 7-11. Were not always doing business, but we're always open"
