If Stoked hadn’t touched the ball whether trying to possess or kick it out and an offside Man United player touched it before Stokes then yeah it would be offsides but it’s tough to rely on officials to whistle offsides especially with no VAR and can’t always see if they are offsides as a player so assume the worse and just kick it out.

Okaayyy.... Speaking of Lyon, I guess they aren't as invincible anymore as Bayern figured them out. And if this is an indication then Barca will repeat.

Batlle I always argue is the best fb at ManU. Love seeing them getting a win let alone against their rival... I swear ManCity this season is having the worst run I have ever seen in a very loooong time and I don't believe they are done yet. If Villa defeats their ass on Saturday then surely an intervention of some sorts needs to be done.

yes, they have been in decline since last year and the squad quality this season is down when you compare to the previous seasons.

Toone has great moments and has great goal contribution stats, but I continue to question to what degree she really makes Man United (or England) better. Zelem didn't cover herself in glory on either Arsenal goal today (rewind to early buildup before the PK), and she missed pretty much Man United's only quality chance at goal today. An issue though is that Boe Risa got lucky (in my opinion) not to give up a PK after coming on for Zelem with about four minutes of regulation time left. The ref gave the free kick from the point where the pushing/holding started, but I thought Boe Risa continued the pushing/holding into the box. (Blundell should have been called for a PK after fouling Mead right at the top of the box. Miedema clipped the crossbar with a great chip effort.)

I still want to see Ladd-Groenen-Boe Risa after this international break, but I thought Boe Risa also had a rough match vs City midweek. Staniforth wasn't great for the majority of this match, but she outperformed Boe Risa midweek and had like a 10 minute spell past the hour mark where she really showed off her passing ability. That setup for Zelem's big chance was high quality. I wouldn't mind seeing Ladd-Groenen-Staniforth in midfield with Galton-Russo-Hanson or Galton/Hanson-Russo-Toone on the frontline in upcoming matches.

Have you all seen Reading's second goal (Harries 86') against Brighton? I mean I did admittedly have a question mark about the offside rules midweek, but every professional should know that you can't be offside when you're in your own half at the time of a teammate's pass.

There's a five point difference between 3rd and 10th in the table; I know we're only eight games in, but that's ridiculous. You could look at United's situation and say they're only three points off 3rd, but you could also look at it and say they're only two points from being in the bottom three. United's next three league fixtures are against teams right around them in the table (Brighton, West Ham, and Aston Villa).

The Brighton defenders looked silly. They should know the offside rule.

Hasn't ManCity been missing at least three starters--Bronze, Kelly and Hougton? That's some serious talent and experience that cannot be easily replaced. Haven't they been playing with makeshift centerbacks for a good part of the season? Maybe they've been worse than they should be, but injuries to three/four key players will damage any club pretty severely. Arsenal went through it for two years: Had a RAFT of injuries to key starters--and as a result got beat by their rivals.

Can't forget Roebuck. I actually don't think Houghton has been all that good the past couple of years, but they do seem to be missing her presence back there.

Her experience helps. She may have lost a step but she helps the defense and morale as captain.

Not to mention Bronze and Chloe Kelly as winger or forward. She has the pace and skills to create chances.

Yes City got a lot of injuries, only Kelly and Bardsley were injured last season. All the new ones are for players who went to Tokyo and did not get a rest. White, Walsh, Stokes, Houghton, Kennedy, Raso and Roebuck has missed games. Losada, Shaw and Esme Morgan also got injured during the season.

Yea, when Arsenal were having major injury problems for two years and losing to Chelsea and ManCity, the fans turned on the coach, Montemurro, and blamed him for the defeats--despite the fact that he was forced to play young and untested players at key positions (centerback, defensive mid). Last year the club forced Montemurro to resign, I believe. He claimed at the time he wanted to spend more time with his family--but he turned around and took the Juventus job and he has that team on a roll: It just beat Wolfsburg in Champions League.

So how do you explain ManCity's failure last season when they have one of the best squad put together in a long time with no injuries? I mean right now with all the players that are out they still have superstars like Hemp, Greenwood, Weir, White, Weir, Becky, Walsh and the international signings aren't that bad either. My guess would be even if Kelly, Houghton (overrated), Bronze, etc. are all healthy, they are not beating Chelsea and Arsenal.

Third manager sacked this season in the FA WSL: Jonathan Morgan at Leicester. They have 0 point in 8.
Scott Booth recently sacked by Birmingham 1 point in 8 games.
Willie Kirk at Everton earlier this season.

Isn’t Morgan the one who helped them get promoted to the top tier? No disrespect but this is his first year there. They expect him to take the club to champions league final in first year or something?

Yes he did the same thing happened at Aston Villa last year.
They demoted the head coach Gemma Davies to make way for Marcus Bignot during the season and she left at the end of the season.

Scott Booth is the one who helped Glasgow City win multiple championships in their league even if its not fully pro. Think they still won even against teams that went full pro too. Guess too much high expectations and lack of patience.

At the 1/3 mark of the season and 25% of the coaches sacked?

That would mean five coaches sacked in the EPL already in November.

    In a word - ridiculous.

The women's coaches probably have fractional-to-no protections built in their contracts compared to the men. The LMA should take this on.

Even if they gelled as a unit, individually they have more name value than delivery on the field.

Another problem is many players only have 1 season contracts so could barley gel or know each other prior to their contract being done.

That's about normal in the EPL, isn't it? :) Or is it just threatening to sack everyone once a month .. I can't tell. But yes, good questions about the managers' association, and the different protections/compensation for women's coaches - there's probably not a happy answer to that one.

Before Glasgow City, Scott Booth coached briefly in the Scottish men's league, the "View from the Terrace" TV show wasn't complimentary about that. Shame the WSL went badly too. Maybe the SWPL was his ideal division - he certainly did well there.

Guess FA WSL is a different animal. I watched the SWPL, its very slow, not much competition.

What I noticed in other countries (in Italy, for instance) is that, as soon as men's teams started entering the women's football scene, the habit of sacking coaches as a way to "solve problems" started to spread... :coffee:

    My stats say:

    1 year contracts 56
    2 years contracts 92
    3 years contracts 31
    4 years contract 7

undisclosed length 78 players ( arsenal, villa, birmingham, leicester and west ham are the clubs who don't disclose the players contract length, you get the info only when press leaks it)
