Is it a Nike ad? If it's on the back cover? Maybe Nike is trying to build Landon The Brand (or, if you prefer, "Brand-on Donovan") in case he changes teams.
I imagine it's part of the campaign for Nike's training apparel line whose name escapes me at this moment. The ads for the line have pretty much identical art direction, with a gray background and athletes wearing said training apparell (I believe Michael Vick and Marion Jones also endorse this line). If I'm not mistaken, Baldy has been part of the training apparent advertising for over a year now. Here in NY, I remember there being a huge ass mural of LD across the front face of Chelsea Piers complex last year.
That's what it's from. MTV has a new movies/games/music magazine that also has the ad line with L-Do, Vick, etc.
