Not really a surprise. Deco, Ferreira, Maniche, Costinha have all raked in good value.

Not to mention the Champions League money, of course.

This does not include the sales of Deco, R. Carvalho and P. Ferreira (these were last year). It only accounts for the sales of Costinha, Fabiano, Maniche, Nuno and Seitaridis of this year

Could Figo actually be that big "craque" they've been talking about shocking everyone with?

I just don't see him coming to Portugal at this point in his career. Also, I'm guessing that if/when he does return, it will be with Sporting.

Last year or 2 years ago (can't remember) Figo admitted that FC Porto contacted him about playing for them. Figo admitted to giving it some thought but decided to stay at R. Madrid. So, in all, it is possible. I think it's a minimal transfer fee (if that) but his salary is hefty, something close to 10 million a season

I know, that is kind of hard to imagine, but that's what would make it so shocking!

    That's the thing.

Due to TV money (or the lack thereof), it's nearly impossible for a Portuguese team to take on that kind of salary, even for a team like Porto that's thriving financially. And I don't think it would be worth it for Porto to spend that kind of money on one player, when it can be used to fill several needs.

But think about what could be done if good marketing is in place... The Figo jersey sales, getting more people in the stands, etc... These wouldn't completely close the gap between the 10 million of his salary and the returns ($$$) but would make it more feasible to getting Figo for 2 years.

Although chances are slim, if there's any Club in Portugal that can afford Figo at this stage of his career, it's Porto. Other clubs have to wait until he's washed up and on his last legs. ;)

O problema eh dinheiro para pagar o salario do Figo e alem disso nao eh um jogador prioritario para o Porto.Em Portugal o Figo so jogaria no Sporting...segundo palavras do mesmo.
