Top two teams in PPG. If you're not a PPG type, you can't deny that they're definitely two SS/MLS Cup contenders. United are the old power, Chivas more of the rising power with some youthful talent. Chivas is practically untouchable at home, D.C. brings one of the best road records in the league in. Three wins in a row for the Goats, DCU hasn't lost a league match in over a month and just thrashed one of the best in the West, FC Dallas, 4-0 on the road. This is the sort of match MLS Thursday Primetime is made for.
I am looking forward to this matchup. For alot of reasons, this has to be the best MLS season ever. There have been alot of good games recently. I watched KC-Houston which was entertaining and the Houston-Clb game the week before. My Red Bulls are an up and down team, but I have seen more interesting regular season games this year throughout the league, than in year's past. I hope that this game lives up to its billing and that the home town fans come out and support their side.
DC has also won six in a row and has given up only one goal, a pk, in that six game stretch. They also have the third best GAA in the league. Chivas boasts the second best GAA in the league and are coming off three impressive wins. I think this will be a tight game with a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline considering the defenses of the two teams. This game might determine who gets the SS.
It should be a great game, DC United just came off a 4-0 win against Dallas and Chivas have been playing well. It's gonna be a physical game for sure and may be one of the better games this season.
Goodsport I see your back in the mainstream. Welcome back. I know you haven't been following MLS since the Quakes moved. I think you'll find the league has moved up a level or two. I also think that means SJ will struggle in the expansion next year. Still, its good to have SJ back in the fold.
I think traditional power would be the better word. Everybody on our roster aside from Moreno, Gomez, Vanney and Olsen is under 30.
If I remember correctly, DC has totally dominated this series. I don't believe that DC has ever lost to Chivas, but I guess I'll have to wait until the game preview comes out. DC wins 2-0...
Thanks. I figured as much. The only consolation is that being the lone team in this year's Expansion Draft will at least allow the Earthquakes the chance for a potentially better team than if it had to share the Draft with another team. So it's still vital for them to hire a GM and coaching staff with a good eye for talent. It's good to be back. Now if we can just convince Comcast to finally carry HDNet nationwide, as well as convince Fox Sports Net Bay Area (likely to soon be renamed Comcast SportsNet Bay Area after Comcast's recent buyout of the FSNBA shares) to broadcast Quakes games in 16:9 HD as it does for its other teams, then we'll at least be set on the HD front. -G
considering our first year you could say that about every team. We are not the same goats that were the doormat of MLS two years ago. We are undefeated at home and on a roll. DCU will be traveling and only have 4 days between games While Chivas will have 11 days to prepare. IMO the winner here will certainly be in a much better position of the SS. It will be a great game with both teams leaving all on the field.
Hate both teams and fans of both teams. I can only hope it's a horribly boring 0-0 game so they never get on ESPN again. Oh, and at least 5 players go down injured and 3 red cards + 4 game suspensions are handed out.
Odiarnos mas, ********.....If anyone wants to translate that for him, feel free. Chivas and DCU are not the borring over hyped crap you pay for. Are you still in the fetal position crying over your team? You're such a whinny douche bag.
True and fair enough. I was looking more to say that D.C. has plenty of guys that have been winners. They're the only side in MLS I think that has earned the right to have a swagger.
Ben Olsen 2nd on goals scored for DC...WTF? What has my MLS come to? Anyways, I hope my Goats come away w/ another entertaining win on our way to the MLS Final! This will def not be easy against a loaded DCU, Gomez, Fred, Emilio, Moreno and Ben "How the f*ck has he scored so many times" Olsen! Arriba Maykel Gol-indo!!!
Eh, I'm more excited about DC United vs. New England on Sunday. That will definitely be for control of the East.
All things considered, I'd take a 0-0 tie on the road. And I don't care what ESPN would think about that.
This will be a true test for the Chivas. There is no doubt that DCU is the true "jewel" and representative of this league. Year in and year out they seem to find a way to win, just check the trophy case. Our boys out west represent the future of this league. This is a team that is just begining to establish itself as a true contender. In both cases we have teams that are built on an attacking and high pressure style. I will be expecting fireworks! Enjoy the match, it deserves the spotlight!
