Here on BigSoccer and in multiple sports news outlets - Brazilian, other South American, U.S., and from other countries - the recent news regarding this tournament have raised eyebrows. Many in Brazil and elsewhere oppose it, but teams have confirmed their participation, and this of course includes the defending champions and hosts, Brazil. Talk about epidemiology, politics, safety, hygiene, health has happened ad nauseam. But the tournament will take place, starting on Sunday, June 13. Two groups of five teams will compete in a tournament which Brazil last hosted a mere 2 years ago and which most Brazilians did not expect to see played in their country for many years. It's back. Best wishes to the Colombian and Argentine people, as they have seen the tournament removed from their countries; the former, due to public unrest, while the latter, due to concerns about hosting and to political considerations. But best wishes as well to the Brazilian people, who while divided on the wisdom of hosting and many of whom are suffering due to the pandemic, will see their country host another major event and who will hopefully celebrate another title achievement by their national team. With 5 2022 WCQ matches late last week and 5 more tonight, the CONMEBOL participants will be leaving clues to opponents' managers as to what to expect. And while there's the possibility that teams will field different rosters from those selected for WCQ, managers will also likely use this tournament as a means to improve team chemistry for when WCQ resumes in September. Brazil for one will have its roster for the tournament announced tomorrow, June 9, 2021. Let's hope for a fun, enjoyable, and safe tournament with good football. Life has been tough enough since this pandemic started. The games must go on (at some point) and life must continue.
The roster for the tournament was announced; other than Thiago Silva replacing Rodrigo Caio, it's the same list as that announced for the Ecuador and Paraguay WCQ matches.

Game played at a training pace, not the most fun to watch, but at least we didn't end up in a 0x0 or 1x0 with a bunch of goals called back. Did their job, hopefully we see more Thursday against Peru.
Can't really celebrate although I'm glad Brazil won. Venezuela was out of sync due to personnel changes. Oh well, a win is a win.
He's also now only 10 goals away from Pelé's 77 goals with Brazil. Not too bad. It's hard to believe he has surpassed Ronaldo Fenômeno and Romário.
Not trying to be harsh and perhaps I am even incorrect, but I feel a lion share of those goals came in friendlies, especially since we didn't have qualifiers for 2014.
He has scored 25 goals in competitive matches. Messi has 38 goals in competitive games while Ronaldo has 85 goals although we know where the bulk of that source comes from...
Neymar could have played more competitive matches had we not hosted 2014 WC and had he not missed 2 CAs. Quite a few of Messi’s goals with Argentina are from the PK spot . Something like 20-25%. And yeah … A bunch of CR7 goals while considered competitive , are against the minnows of Europe in Euro or WC qualifying .
It will be interesting to see how many different setups Tite tries out. It's clear that he is trying to figure something out changing formations, shifting Neymar around from wing to free role, trying to find out subs for RA / Paulinho and the forwards. I would have really liked to see BH in the team.
One thing that gave me hope yesterday was that Tite made two subs at halftime. That is pretty aggressive for him. Like you said, he is trying different things, I just hope we see some interesting starting line-ups and halftime subs throughout the group stage. Would make this not only more productive, but more fun.
I expect a tough match from Peru. They won't have forgotten they beat Brazil in a late 2019 friendly and that they scored 2 on Brazil in a WCQ match late last year.
Some interesting line-up options in training today, including Everton (Cebolinha) and Fabinho looking likely to get playing time. Considering we've played Peru 4 times in a relatively short period, big changes would make for a much more interesting game.
