Pres. Bush, on his way to the Asia-Pacific summit in Australia, has just turned up unannounced in Iraq this Labor Day morning.

    No links yet.

Ah the Liberator returns...! I'm surprised there isn't a ticker tape parade organised for him in downtown Baghdad...

He went to Anbar where the surge is "working." Surprised there's no Baghdad market trip:

"Bought me some rugs. Barb's gonna like em at the ranch. Lookin' forward to meeting up with Nouri. I looked into his eyes and I know he's a man of his word."

If I had my way Paul Bremer would be tied to a line, cast out of the Green Zone, and slowly reeled back for all eternity, just like Sisyphus with the rock.

How do you think our troops reacted to his visit? Want to make a guess?

Well, four of them died yesterday in roadside bombing attacks.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Anbar has come a long way. Bush has every right to be up about its progress.

That's what soldiers do. Nobody ever said Iraq is at peace.

I'm avoiding the question? I'm trying to keep the focus on what is important.

Listen. I am sure that for some who were there, it was thrilling to see the president. I do think that thrill-potential is probably much less than it was 2-3 years ago.

    No shit.

My point is simply that a little message board spat about whether bush visiting is a good thing or a cheap publicity stunt is pretty meaningless.

Fighting and dying is what soldiers do, but that doesn't mean that we should let their sacrifice become routine. On a day when four young Americans are no more, their sacrifice -- which is far more heroic than dubya's entire life -- is relegated even farther back in our headlines to accomodate a cheap stunt.

That's all I am saying. Do with it what you will.

I'll answer your question. They clapped, he got a couple "hooahs" from the soldiers who insist upon making themselves sound like morons by saying "hooah" and everyone went on their merry way. What do you expect? Do you really think anyone is going to jeer the Commander in Chief?

Things are going great, otherwise...especially if you don't count the bodies.

No one said that either. But it is hard to deny that Anbar has made significant progress, as well as many other parts of that nation.

This black and white perspective on Iraq makes no sense. It's a process.

Nope, I think people who say "hooah" SOUND like morons. Just like I always thought my fellow Marines who said "ooh-rah" SOUNDED like morons. And no, I won't call them baby killers, but I did have one guy on my team we called Shitfucker..........

So, am I still a dog? Learn some ********ing reading comprehension before you start dishing out the neg-reps and calling people dogs.

I am fairly certain that I have never dished out neg rep until this post. I always thought it was kind of a silly option. Not sure if that position has changed but it sure felt satisfying to call you the moron.

I should have known this would be covered. And in much more colorful language than my own.
