ok big mama just bruised his ankle nothing thank god. We are going to lose the game but atleast big mama didn't break his ankle also
Has anyone heard an update? It just happened in the tape-delayed broadcast and they are bringing him in for x-rays. His hands are covering his face and looks in serious pain.
They are now saying it's just a bruise, and that he should be fine in a couple of days. He may even be able to resume his new "yelling at Clint Mathis instead of playing soccer" sytle on Thursday against the Burn.
Mama got hurt. His ego was bruised so he left. Good thing it wasn't his ball or the game would have ended.
I can't explain why they were screaming at each other, but it was pretty nasty. A dispute over positioning and distribution I suppose, I didn't see any specific instance where one ignored the other while wide open or anything glaring, but they were really going at it, pointing fingers, walking away from one another only to have (iirc) Diallo grabing clint's jersey, more shouting. Not friendly stuff. Hopefully they have it sorted out, but I can't recall anything that bad in a metro jersey yet.
Diallo, selfish and he quits on the team. He didn't look like he wanted to be on the pitch before Ruiz' first goal - he was doing nothing. After the first goal he does less, then leaves on a stretcher with a bruise. He's trouble and not good for the team. Mama is for Mama, not the Metros. The team will be better off without him. Hopefully Mathis will play up top, not only on the lineup card, but maybe he will stay up top instead of coming back and clogging the midfield.
I believe it sprouted from the 3v3 a few minutes before Diallo was injured. Clint had options with Mamado and Faria making runs. He decided to take the limited space he had, and ran straight into a Los Angeles defender, stripping him of the ball. Pretty selfish move by Cletus, if you ask me.
Just a friendly warning from experience as a Revs fan: after Diallo demands to be traded because your team is disrespecting him, he will immediately score half a dozen goals for the team you trade him to, making you look like total idiots. But then he will suffer some perceived affront, fake an injury to get out of playing, and demand to be traded again, at which point you'll feel much better about having gotten rid of him. (Except that the player you got in return will be no better...)
What's ironic about this is that Diallo was furious at OZ after being subbed against DC last week, but this time he takes himself out for a "bruise" (ego perhaps). On a side note, irresponsible reporting at halftime by the announcers for calling Diallo's injury a "probable" (or was it "possible"?) broken ankle.
I think the reporters/commentators were just guessing due to the amount of time Diallo was down, the fact that he didn't even try to get up much less move, and the fact that they put an air cast on his leg. It certainly could have been a broken ankle, but wasn't. And, just when you though Jack and Ty couldn't be worse, they throw Wynalda in the booth. Cripes was he awful. There's a tim mccarver quote about broadcasting (though, he actually took it from someone else but has repeated it so often he acts as if he coined it) that goes "if you don't have something to say, don't say it". Wynalda needs to learn that. There were not 4 seconds of dead air in that entire broadcast. Yap yap yap yap yap. Just brutal.
He didn't really give the result away. All he said was that Diallo was injured. Who knows? Maybe Diallo could have been injured but we could have still won.
Speaking of Jack Edwards, he must have misidentified our players nearly 50% of the time. He absolutely could not get Davis, Moore, and Ziadie straight, especially the first two. Same thing with Diallo and Williams while they were on the field together, as well as Paule and Jolley. Would it kill him to learn the players' names?
It seemed the other way around to me. When Mathis was approaching the box, I couldn't understand why Diallo and Faria weren't making runs. I thought Mathis started the yelling by barking at Diallo for not making a run.
He had more relavant insight, but I thought he talked too much, and when you throw him in there with the other 2, it was like last year's monday night football crew all over again. Just Wynalda and a play by play guy would probably be enough- though he and Rob Stone could get ugly.
From where I was sitting, it looked like Clint flipped Mama off as he turned away from their first yap fest. Can't blame him. And I didn't see any injury at all. Thought he was just trying to flop and draw a yellow card. He initiated the contact. My gut feeling at the time was that Big Mama was being a Big Baby and didn't want to play anymore.
Couple observations: 1-If you looked carefully at the side/front view of the the Diallo collision, you'll see his left or right ankle turn pretty bad. I remember distinctly because normally I turn away at stuff like that. Took me by surprise. 2-I thought the Clint/Diallo incident was spurred by Diallo and Faria being in the same space. I believe Clint was yelling at Diallo that he should have made a run on the right side of the field, or at least not in the same space as Farias.
Myabe if Mathis stopped dogging it Diallo wouldn't be giving him ***************. Strikers of his quality I know are apt to disapear for long times, but it seems like against LA he felt his job was to push up the ball into the offensive 3rd, and then sit back. At least one time he gave a good ball to Faria on a counter-attack and when Faria looked to slot it back, Mathis was still in midfield, not pushing up, and apparently not caring who won.
...... you could tell that big mama was in alot of pain. where they put the air cast on his leg, i was directly in front of him in the 2nd row after the black tarp. He would move his hand off his face. But it was only a bruised foot, nuthin to serious.
