Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me re the above.
Being a block booking holder for many years at Landsdowne and having been to all the other games in this group (home and away) I was fully expecting to get a ticket from our limited allocation (3,000). Indeed, I had already booked the flights, accomodation and car hire.
Got a letter this morning from the FAI saying that my application had not been successful.
Apparently "the method used was to include each block bookers name once in the draw for every two tickets held on the block booking for home games at Landsowne". As I only have one block booking then it sounds like my name did not go into the draw at all.
Todays Irish Times states that they received 11,000 applications and of these 1,300 go to 10-year ticket holders (whatever that is??), sponsors, official travel agents, senior players and officials. The balance of 1,700 then goes to individuals or groups with block bookings, i.e the draw.

I guess I better get my request in first then,

Anyone got any spare tickets or any ideas where to get one??

For me going with the official travel agents is not an option as I have done that several times too often in the past.

    Here's hoping!!!

    try euroteam.ch
    or try ebay.ch

Both touting tickets ....prepare to get fleeced for up to euro 300 for cat 1 and Euro 210 for cat 3 tickets

Otherwise , you might have to try outside the stadium (unless you get lucky before you travel).

I am sure there will be touts there too willing to help you part with your hard earned.

Either way ....GOOD LUCK IN YOUR QUEST.

Interesting news.....I just came online to ask if anyone had heard as I am a block booker too at Lansdowne and went to away games too.
I guess there will be a letter waiting for me at home this evening.
It will be a shame if I dont get one as work is paying for me to go out on business to Switzerland that week!!!!

Just checked ebay.ch, there are loads of tickets for the game available there , you will need to be decent at German or famiar with ebay to bid for them, and yet again prepare to be fleeced.

Maybe if we could buy up all the Swiss tickets we could make it like a home game!!!

Further to my earlier post on this topic I received the following letter from the FAI today (postmarked 18/9)

" I refer to the above fixture and correspondence you will have received in the last week notifying you of your unsuccessful application for tickets for this fixture.
All unsuccessful applicants were held on file in the event that we received returns or a further allocation. Following recent correspondence and requests for additional tickets to the Swiss FA, they have agreed to provide us with an additional number of tickets due to the exceptional demand we are experiencing for this fixture.
In the light of the above, we have held a second draw among thise unsuccessful block bookers. The same method as used in the first draw was applied. Each block bookers name was entered in the draw once for every two tickets held on the block booking for home games at Landsdowne.

As a result of the draw, you have been allocated 1 ticket"

So you never know ther may be some good news awaiting you when you get home!!!
Obviously I am delighted as I had just about given up hope of getting one at a sensible price and was going to cancel my travel arrangements later on tonight.
Not sure how many more tickets there are in this further allocation and have not seen anything about it in the press.
Just wondering whether my email of complaint to the FAI from last week increased my chances of being successful this time around???
I still don't understand the allocation method as I have got a block booking for one seat which would suggest that my name should not have been in the hat for either draw according to their stated methodology.
Anyway, hope some of you guys get a similar reprieve.
