Since u became a Hoffenheim die-hard, here is something on Hopp which my friend at Lazio forum posted.

"lol Hoffenheim had very good start.I heard their president is some one like Abramovich".

When Dietmar was young he played in the Hoffenheim youthteam. He have a big heart for the club and the best, Dietmar support his local team.

In the beginning of the 90's TSG played in the eight division but when Dietmar Hopp rejoined his old club the road to Bundesliga began. The biggest mistake Dietmar have made are when he said "yes" to merge TSG Hoffenheim with FC Astoria Walldorf and SV Sandhausen. Togheter should they be FC Heidelberg 06. The new stadium for that club should be in Hiedelberg or Eppelheim but the company who build the new TSG stadium had already planned the building of that stadium. The FC Heidelberg will not be found."

Nah~ there must be thousands if not millions of fans of my knowledge, but I'd say a guy like Gregoriak SHOULD write one.

Btw, if u are intersted on reading some German footy books of which I have purchased in the 70's (I also have a book on Mönchengladbach), I'd be more then happy to lend them.

      Let me know...

"tor!" must be the greatest ever book on German Footy published in the U.S. written in English so far.

One note form the book: the guys who chased Jürgen Sparwasser at WM74 against DDR was Vogts and Höttges#6 not "Katsche" Schwarzenbeck, Katsche was substitued by Höttges!

      HAHAHA!

Good that u have realized the reality of Buli! But, I still hope Bauern to be good at CL for the sake of Buli.

Nicely put. I suppose having split loyalties is an advantage, as it gives you a more cultured perspective. Though, having an emotional investment in so many factions must give you a headache.

Not an Avenue Q fan? Anyway, that's more in line with the, um, 'role' you play sometimes.

      I'd say you're definitely patriotic.

I think he was a great pick up für Die Knappen. Is he a Bundemannschaft material, we´ll have to see.

Germany is close to hitting on all cylinders, and I already think they can beat Russia or Spain without their best football.

I don't get the same sense of "invincibility" from the other semifinalists.

Good point. A lot is asked of Ballack - especially when Frings is out.

      Twenty26Six
So, does Ballack need to play better for Germany to win the whole thing? Or, are the attacking contributions of Podolski and Schweinsteiger going to be enough?

I agree that he killed the cheese. At the same time, with the cheese, he helped, in the mainstream's mind, bury what good metal existed. To this day, many people see Maiden and Priest in the same line as Poison, unfortunately. Let's remember that Cobain had a personal battle to bury Guns n' Roses, which I believe to be one of the great American bands, along with Nirvana. Nirvana brought the perception to the masses that metal was uncool, that guitar solos were uncool. This perception has remained with the masses. He doesn't merit the complete blame, that is not what I'm saying, but in terms of the perception that metal is not cool, I think he has a piece in that.

About bringing back rock (or a genuineness to it), that is another longer post and conversation for another day.

I get annoyed with people who claim that metal is a one-trick genre of palm-muting and "video game" solos. If any genre is adventurous, it is metal, with signature changes and complex structures. I blame Kurt Cobain and his supposed "killing" of metal. At least here in the states, people are unwilling to look at metal as a serious and viable musical entity. I know that it is still huge in Eastern Europe, Asia, and South America. Unfortunately, it is mostly the American market to which most ears are tuned.
