It's probably better if you don't upload ALL of those pics....but left some room for the other uploaders.....just a thought ;)

Yeah he was probably booed because they lost to England.... :p

I'm not sure about the wicket now, confused. Well they've made fair wickets so far in India so I hope it continues like that. The SL ones have been total slow, low turners from the second over on.

No I'm not talking about you, but the view of him in general.I meant that his behaviour has everything to do with his upbringing. He's a very straight up guy who forgets that cameras are on him, but in recent years has improved on that side a lot. People don't like it because they expect him to be like steve waugh or tendulkar just because he is captain. As for the booing, in the last Ashes in England he was clapped at every ground because of his behaviour and post match speeches.

Good luck.......and send some pics when you can put the camera down for a minute :)

PS. I think Pakistan wins this actually.
Chandigarh is usually a neutral wicket.

Well to be fair to Ponting, he didnt claim the catch, he said he didn't know so the umps referred it. Watch the match replay. How do they manage to create controversy where there isn't any. Honestly, I think some parts of the Indian media are paranoid that he is a greater cricketer than tendulkar so they go out of their way to diminish him in any other way. Sure, Ponting has made mistakes and owned up publicly in his youth, and plays the game with no great regard for diplomacy or false niceties, but off the field by all accounts he was always the most helpful and outgoing guy out there. His post match interviews have improved tons of late. He doesn't have a middle or upper class upbringing like many of his asian or english contemporaries, but he is who he is. And also (just for you), he does have that double century celebration involving blowing his wife kisses :p

Well that sure stands out, yup I don't remember you!

Why was ponting booed? (Your voice was hoarse from 6 hours of screaming as during ponting's century you took a breather :p)

Yeah what other azad hind is there? I was just reading history that's all...caxton hall shooting etc

      Get any photos?

I saw some good material in the stands during the game, if you know what I mean.... :p

No I don't think so, but he can bat like that in Tests :p

Don't think CA will keep him as captain in any format. It's Clarke's time.

And I meant that is one of the best matches I've seen anyone play. It was a tough track to bat on, and then in the field his fielding inside the circle was like watching a 28 year old Ponting - all with a wrapped up healing fracture in his hand. He was like the tasmanian devil :p Despite what anyone has to say about him, he always leaves 110% out there on the field for his team. I would have given him man of the match.

Anyway, I am happy for you guys, it means a lot to you. Did you stick around for any celebrations? I watched the whole game...

Yes, before I was born :p

Congrats, it was a very tight game as I said. Ponting played one of his best individual games ever. What a champion. It could have been different with their strongest ODI spinner and accurate fast bowlers, had they not been injured. That is why they had to go with this all out pace thing. But I am actually ok with India winning because it means a lot more to you guys. That said, Im not sure who can beat South Africa because they look the most complete team.

The stats do all favour australia's record in India, but of late their team is more unstable than even of a year ago. So I think it's really a toss-up. Anyway, I'm not sure either team will actually win the thing. I think that'll be England to be honest. Because they care the least but they are very skilled cricketers.

No no you read wrong, reading the threads have made me start yawning....nothing I haven't seen in the last few years :p

India and australia were not meant to meet till the final. I think it's 50/50

Yeah but recent threads in the NT board have me yawning with alarming regularity so I needed a remedy.

Did you end up getting on TV?
How did you score these tickets? If India lose will you sell the rest?

The Australia game maybe. They are minnows (relatively) and not many players would play their 100% game risking injury before the end of the season and for the EC qualifier a few days from then.

But why do you say that the game against the Kazakhs will be a draw? That too at home?

Currently Germany are 5 points clear of 2nd place. Austria (currently 2nd place) play Belgium on the 25th. They play Turkey on the 29th. If Austria fail to get 3 points from these 2 games, and Germany wins against the Kazakhs, I think Germany qualifies for the EC, but for a remote mathematical mishap. There is just no way this game will be taken lightly.

I was trolling and you go and drop the stats book on me

No it's a cumulative of the current WC squad of players' matches and wins. 73%. The last 3-4 years: ODI rankings too.

Funny article, satire on the media there

I decided to listen to this, and it was probably the most balanced view (and so far the only as well :p) I have listened to for the WC. Manjrekar had some good points about the warmup pitches.

Article about the australian injuries. I was looking at the players in the australian team and actually they are a lot better on paper than I thought. White and Ferguson average in the 40s. Johnson has 28 wickets in India at 23.

NZ is ok, not that great. I'll drop you an email sometime ;) Going to Australia for a bit
      next week.

Australia may have a weaker squad than they did in 2007 but the win percentage in ODIs for the players in both squads is almost the same. The men in Ponting's 2007 outfit had a success percentage of 72.8%, while Ponting's present team has 72.7%. India's win percentage in 2007 was 52% and they crashed out in the group stage. Dhoni's squad for 2011 has 58.2%.
      ----------
Interesting. Could australia's decline be exaggerated because of their own past standard? They are still rated the #1 ODI team by quite a distance in points too.

I'll include the link because it's your type of thing, full of stats ;)

Apart from Ponting and Hussey to an extent , none of the Aussie players can play against spinners.
I would accept all faults that you point of team India. Currently the middle order is completely out of form. But on paper, its a strong order. Aussies on the other hand are just a shadow of the previous Aussie sides.
      ----------
Took a serious pill this morning?? :p

I am joking, I don't follow the Indian team and since I started living in the US the Australians hardly either. I have never cared about ODI cricket, at least since the 2003 world cup. Australia have obliterated everyone since 1999 so its about time someone else won it. Having said that, it's still Australia and despite missing some key players could still win it because they're still Australia and people could still get blinded by the bright gold uniforms during world cup time and not see there's no Gilchrist to Mcgrath in the order anymore.

Anyway how are you? Hope you've been keepin well.

The people I met there were generally very friendly though communication is an issue if you don't have a Russian language interpreter. On a societal basis..........
They showed that on the local channel almost every night. I saw the movie for the first time there. What I didn't understand is why Rocky is called the Italian stallion?p

Stallone is of italian descent. Interesting what you say about the societal thingy, saw that coming but fascinates me in some way anyways :p

Thanks for your extremely 'lacking in detail report' lol.

I suppose I got what I was asking for ;)

It was very late in NZ when you posted it so I didnt go back to that page till just now. And I cut the reply in half to stay in the character count.

The husband had work related meetings only for a few hours on the first two days and was free after that. It felt good to be a state guest.

Then what were you two doing there after the first two days? Being a state guest in kazakhstan sounds like a suitable excuse for a couple's holiday. :) I hope you told them it was very tough and busy.

I thought that's what you where hinting at. Since we had no TV, it forced me to get season tickets for FC Bayern games. Stehplatze (standing room) because they were the cheapest. So I was in the Sudkurve quite a bit :) I really miss that now. We where in Munich from 1986 to 1996
