Haha! Thanks for the scoop. I love the Va's little quirks. (I grew up in Richmond and went to UVa., though I now live in Spokane WA, where history is measured in decades, and everyone but me is a Seahawk fan.) On Monument Avenue, where my family lived when I was born, there are statues of Lee, Stonewall Jackson, JEB Stuart and Jeff Davis, but no Lincoln!
About a place in Virginia being called Lincoln. Before the Civil War, it wasn't. It was Goose Creek. It was then, as it is now, a Quaker town. Therefore it was an abolitionist center in an area that would be patrolled by Mosbey during the Civil War. Mosbey had a skirmish with Reno (of Custer fame) not a half mile from here. As an in-your-face gesture to the surrounding slave-supporting populace, the residents renamed the town Lincoln when the president was first elected. And so, we have Lincoln, Virginia. Must have been a tough place to live after Virginia became the capital of the Confederacy.
if you are interested here is the exchange that got Adu nothing and me a yellow. His was first. One problem Donovan has still yet to correct when he becomes a small fish in a big pond.............is when he is near goal- he plays like an un-selfish bearded clam..............when he should be trying to score. Once again, you are showing your macho manhood, while playing with yourself in your basement. Until you can play in front of 50,000 people, I would hold off on questioning his manhood, little boy.
I got the yellow by making a nasty (though not obscene) comment toward someone (adu and altidore) who posted a disgusting comment about Landon's sexuality. Making the crudest, most obscene comments against USA players is apparently fine, but reacting too vigorously gets you yellow. Dark Knight is a douche bag.
Yes, the Quakes boards are over-run with punks and assholes. I blame the ultras and their ilk for ruining our forums.
Can't stop laughing there... hey bro, might as well go easy on them a bit... yeah I hang with them but I got to float--march to my own drummer... and yes, time to be arrogant... (with the pics LOL)... :p
The two things I miss about SF: Quakes and playing soccer with my Sunday morning gang. The best: Seeing the Quakes play a great match on Sat eve, then going to play soccer on Sunday morning! Yell a couple of times for me at the next match!
