Corona, I'm not sure why you posted this here, but I don't think I've heard it before. Is it related to some conversation we've had in the past?

Apparently there is a distinct difference between Hispanic and Latino. I never knew it, but apparently hispanic technically refers to people who descend from the Iberian peninsula. I never even knew that before.

I knew it! One of the first times I saw that or a very similar version of that photo was on buddies tattoo.

I was just having fun with that - perhaps a little obsessed with the tabloids.

Wish I could rep you in the blogs -- what an incredibly stupid argument about Mali's GDP and ref performance.

Yeah, but you were waaay closer to the truth than I was. I thought Colts, but had no clue about the rest of the info.

Yeah, I'm sure it was a McCain rally. It was outdoors and he was respoding to a female. Woman sounded like she was in her fifties or early sixties.

Look- I don't think McCain's a stone racist. But keeping that element in their party for so long is going to have the effect of some of it rubbing off on everyone who comes in contact with them.

Are you sure that was a McCain rally? I remember Lindsey Graham saying something like that around the 2:40 mark although IMO the previous two minutes negate any sort of implied or overt racism.

Of course your views may vary.

JG, you're going to have to link to that post again. It's been so long that I don't recall what it was about. But glad to have you post in my profile all the same.

Auria, thanks for the rep on my SMU joke. FYI, Matt Doherty's the head coach of the hoops team, so I got in a dig at SMU AND Carolina with one punch line. Can I get double rep now? :)

Jake, your response to Barbara in the Drug War thread ("I don't have to participate in your poll") pretty much illustrated where you and your ilk stand. I'm glad to know you're no longer in law enforcement. That's the best thing to happen to private citizens in your area.

Sorry you feel that way. However, for several years, I worked in a DA's office whose largest city's police dept. had more offender ID folders than adult males! Everyone had a record! Even the cops! (mostly JV stuff & off-duty problems & DV cases) In addition to a big chunk of the male population, we also convicted 1% of the police department each year. Eventually, my wife prevailed upon me to move to the suburbs.

ITN, if I'm on your mind this much, you really do need a break from BigSoccer. OTOH, if this is how you're going to handle your political party's loss this November, I won't report this post to a mod. America's a better nation already than it was two months ago.

why can't we all just get along?

      ---Sarah Palin

ok, so we're on slightly different slippery slopes, but i think there is room for honest exchange, not the acrimonious stuff that seems to dominate. could we try to avoid personal attack and say what's true for us without venom, vitriol or vomit?

the last "v" didn't work so well...

btw..I actually lived in Obamas district back in the late 90,s when he started running for office.I actually like barack, ive met him a few times and had discusions with him,.we both were key organizers at a anti war rally against the Kosovo intervention.I supported his opposition for a reason back then (Danny davis) and I still cant support Barack.I simply do not believe he has proven actual hard leadership skills to run for higher office.I belive the president should be more then a glossy smile ,fist bumbs and an MTV endorsement.I will probably be supporting Cynthia McKinney for president.
