Cavaly Continue to Play Well, Baltimore SC Needs More Patience Even though no players from their club were selected for the country's national team (for the CFU Digicel Caribbean Cup), Cavaly remains 1 of the more dangerous clubs in the league and a team to watch out for. Fritz Gérald Alliance, Cavaly Currently at 5th place, The Léoganais had a match with Baltimore SC, who were playing without captain Peter Germain and Alain Vuibert due to the CFU Digicel Caribbean Cup, at Parc Gerard Christophe. Baltimore SC's Pierre-Roland St Jean got his club the lead very early with a goal in the 5th minute of the game. Cavaly de Léogane, team pic at Parc Gerrard Christophe Though they were down early, Cavaly were not out as they continued to control the game and create more scoring chances than their opponents. Their patience finally paid off with a game-tying goal in the 80th minute from Fritz Gérald Alliance. The Léoganais threatened to take all 3 points and move closer to Don Bosco at the top of the league but squandered their opportunities in a 1:1 draw. Frantz Gilles, Cavaly With the draw, Cavaly remain in 5th place in a tough and very equally challenging league top 5. Meanwhile, Baltimore SC still remain winless this season and are still at the bottom of the league, hopefully their patience will pay off soon.

Violette AC has now moved into second place in the league's (Championnat National de Première Division) current standings and are only 1 point behind the black eagles of Don Bosco. By next week they'll be rejoined by Alexandre Boucicaut (was with the Haitian national team during their CFU Digicel Caribbean Cup first round group action in Jamaica). Violette AC are currently among the highest scoring clubs in the league and remains a strong threat to hold the league cup by the end of the season. A full round of league action took place this weekend, as Zenith reclaimed top spot in the league with a 2:1 win over AS Carrefour at Stadium Saint-Victor in Cape Haïtien, and moved ahead of Don Bosco which suffered a 1:0 loss to Aigle Noir. The match of the day was the meeting between Violette Athletic Club and their long time league rivals Racing Club Haïtien in front of a sellout crowd at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince. Even though both teams had their chances of getting on the board neither was able to break the deadlock and Violette AC remains in second place with the draw. Led by a high flying offense, ASC (led by Eliphène Cadet) blew past Dynamite FC 4:2 at Parc Levelt in Saint-Marc and now sits in the league's 3rd spot. Aigle Noir's 1:0 win over Don Bosco last weekend set the stage for the rest of the Championnat National de Première Division as well as qualifiers from leagues all throughout the Caribbean as they will be competing in the CFU Club Championships later this season. The goal by Brunel Fucien (55') moved Aigle Noir to 7th place in last week's standings. Aigle Noir will be meeting Tempête FC this weekend at Parc St. Victor. Here are the match highlights (in Creole), http://www.tnh.ht/journalsports/mercredi/Sports4.wmv
Don Bosco Regains Lead, ASC on Stand-by Thanks to a 5:0 blowout win over Dynamite FC at Stade Sylvio Cator, Don Bosco has regained its lead in Championnat National de Première Division thanks to goals by Walson Augustin, who moved into second place among league scorers this season behind ASC's Eliphène Cadet. Walson Augustin of Don Bosco ASC moved up to second place in Championnat National de Première Division thanks to a goal by Eliphène Cadet in their 2:1 win over US Frères at Parc Levelt. Cadet's goal, his fifth since being traded to ASC from Aigle Noir, turned out to be the game winning goal against a stubborn US Frères defense. ASC
the pic of Walson Augustin was from Don Bosco's match against Cavaly earlier this season. wow, Don Bosco really lit Dynamite up. Click the link below to view the game highlights and goals from their 5:0 win on sunday. http://www.tnh.ht/journalsports/mardi/Sports4.wmv
Cadet At The Head of This Season's Scorers Beginning this season Eliphène Cadet's trade from Aigle Noir to ASC caused a stir within the league but Aigle Noir's coach decided to put together a younger starting lineup led by Haitian international forward Jean-Baptiste Fritzson who's been making a name for himself with his club as well as country. However the trade has better benefited ASC as they currently stand in second place in the Championnat National de Première Division behind Don Bosco due to goal differential. Eliphène Cadet, Haitian national team in a friendly with Dominican Republic (September 15, 2006) But the club's success is due in part to their most explosive player, Cadet, who currently leads the league in goals scored with 5 goals in 7 matches. The current league scorers' list has the ASC striker above Oscaldo Jérémie(AS Mirebalais), Amy Andre (Cavaly), Yveson Etienne (Don Bosco), Joinvilma Angelet (Dynamite FC), and Leonel Saint-Preux (Zénith). He is known for his skills internationally as well, scoring 2 goals in Haiti's 3:3 draw against the ticos at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San José last year(http://www.concacaf.com/view_archive.asp?id=2923).

This weekend's matchups, #1 Don Bosco vs. AS Mirebalais ASM has not posted a victory in their last 5 games. They have a potent young striker in Jeremie Oscaldo. The striker finished top scorer of the Super Coupe d' Haiti 2005 but the team has allowed more goals than they've scored and is currently in 12th place. Don Bosco has won some important games and earned the 1st place in the standings. The club features U-20 NT striker Yvesson Etienne who's currently one of the league leaders in goals. When an U-20 striker is imposing himself so well in the Haitian League that's very good news for Haitian Football. Don Bosco has produced many outstanding strikers, among them, Emmanuel "Manno" Sanon and more recently Jean-Phillipe "Pedro" Peguero. Yvesson Etienne is showing great potential at a young age and he is in good hands with the team's new Argentine coach, Claudio Frean. Bruny Pierre-Richard of Don Bosco Baltimore SC vs. #2 Violette AC Baltimore SC at home with the support of their fans will be tough to beat. The St. Marc club has an experienced team that have withstood the effects of the eratic player transfer market. Baltimore clearly has the advantage. Violette is a very young team that are bearing early fruits with a 2nd place spot in the standings. Phillipe Vorbe is back with the team apparently but the team will be without key player 19 year old, Marc Mackendy who's suspended due to yellow cards in weeks 2, 8 and 9. #3 Roulado vs. Dynamite FC Dynamite is in last place and heading towards relegation, the St. Marc club suffered a terrible vehicle accident last season that injured and took the lives of several players in the team. Their 1st division series was a success and they started their second series well until they had the accident. Angelet Joinvilma is scoring the goals but the team's having trouble earning points. National team player Kimberly Francois and Rosanto Sainville helped Roulado earn all three points last week. This team has a strong foundation left by their former Argentine coach, Claudio Frean, who's now coaching Don Bosco. MATCH OF THE WEEK Aigle Noir vs. ASC National team striker Eliphene Cadet, now with ASC, will meet his old club for the 1st time since being traded. ASC appears to have had the better of the trade deal with more than 2 times the number of goals scored by Aigle Noir so far this season. Aigle Noir has a very promising team with young players like Rood Kelly Jean (national team player), Jean-Baptiste Fritzson(national team player), and Peterson Joseph (U-17 NT) who's already imposing himself in the Haitian 1st division. Peterson Joseph will miss the clash with ASC due to suspension for yellow cards received in week 3, 8 and 9.
Racing Club Haïtien Wins as Match Ends in Ref Controversy In the battle of the Racings, a very controversial match at Stade Sylvio Cator ended in a 1-0 Racing Club Haïtien win over Racing des Gonaïves, which helped move RCH up to the 11th spot after week 10 was completed in the Championnat National de Première Division. Central referee, George Alain Jean, confronted by the "Gonaïviens" after the final whistle Police officers had to intervene quickly at the end of the game in order to prevent actions by the Gonaïviens and fans as they protested their disgust with what they believed were poor officiating mistakes throughout sunday's match. Reginald Heurtelou of "RCH" being closely marked by Nogales Joseph for the "Gonaïviens" If it is true that nobody has the right to tackle the "man in blue" in a football match, it is quite as important that each referee works so that the result respects sporting ethics. Aveska Judelain of Racing Club Haïtien Alot of protests were given in the last minutes of the match as a Gonaïvien forward was visibly tackled by a RCH defender in the box, which many fans believed was indisputable evidence for a penalty shot but instead the ref seemed to ignore the play and let the match continue.
ASC Finally Takes Top Spot After A Spectacular Week 10 After a 2-0 home win over Aigle Noir last sunday and a 2-1 win over Victory wednesday, ASC has moved up to take the top spot in the current league standings of the Championnat National de Première Division thanks to goals from forwards Eliphène Cadet and Jacques Mary Saint-Fleur. Also throughout the match there was great playmaking from midfielder Roosevelt Désir. Eliphène Cadet of ASC The win also moves ASC 3 points clear of Don Bosco and Cavaly. Jacques Mary Saint-Fleur of ASC Saint-Fleur, the hero last sunday after scoring both goals in ASC's 2-0 win over Aigle Noir in a hard fought match at Parc Saint Victor.
Off-topic, but I find this picture interesting. I was under the impression that referees weren't supposed to have shirt sponsors?
Nah i didn't know referees weren't supposed to have shirt sponsors. Digicel Cloture 2006 Week 10 1) ASC 10 matches played, 20 pts. 2) Don Bosco 10 matches played, 17 pts. 3) Cavaly 10 matches played, 17 pts. 4) Roulado 10 matches played, 16 pts. 5) Violette AC 10 matches played, 15 pts. 6) Tempête FC 10 matches played, 15 pts. 7) Baltimore SC 10 matches played, 14 pts. 8) Zénith 10 matches played, 14 pts. 9) Aigle Noir 10 matches played, 14 pts. 10) AS Mirebalais 10 matches played, 12 pts. 11) Racing Club Haïtien 10 matches played, 12 pts. 12) Victory 10 matches played, 12 pts. 13) AS Carrefour 10 matches played, 10 pts. 14) Racing des Gonaïves 10 matches played, 9 pts. 15) US Frères 10 matches played, 9 pts. 16) Dynamite FC 10 matches played, 6 pts.
I think Digicel (the sponsoring company) has pumped all the (private) money into the league. From the pics I've seen, just about every team is sponsored by them, so it really doesn't make much difference. Metro
Don Bosco is doing a good job in Haiti this season. In addition to their current league success, the Port-au-Prince based club will put up an official website soon, in fact they hosted a press conference last monday in which they revealed many new features for the club including posters of the squad. They have already started to distribute pictures whenever the team is playing. They are trying to expose the club to the public as well as trying to make the players more well known to the public. In magazines people will have a chance to discover everything about their favorite players from the club such as their profiles, pictures, interests, and their previous clubs. Another club that is trying to follow this initiative is Racing Club Haïtien. They're coming along soon. The website hasn't been opened yet but it'll probably be at www.donboscopv.com Digicel Cloture 2006, week 12 results -------------------------------------------------------------- SÉRIE CLÔTURE DIGICEL Résultats de la 12ème Journée Racing Club Haïtien 2:1 Baltimore SC Tempête FC 1:1 ASC Zénith 2:3 Cavaly Racing des Gonaïves 1:1 Violette AC AS Mirebalais 3:0 Dynamite FC Victory 4:0 AS Carrefour Roulado 1:1 Don Bosco US Freres - PP - Aigle Noir
FlashEP- What towns are the Premiere clubs from? I saw several Cap-Hatien teams a few St Marc, Gonaives, Carrefour, PaP. Are there any other cities represented in the league? Or are the other cities in lower divisions?
Well, the capital is home to the most clubs in the league. Don Bosco, Violette AC, Aigle Noir, Victory, and Racing Club Haïtien are all Port-au-Prince based clubs. Fans in St. Marc have 3 clubs to cheer for in Baltimore SC, Tempête FC, and Dynamite FC. AS Carrefour plays for the city it's name after, Carrefour. Racing des Gonaïves, which plays for Gonaïves, is another club named after its city. The other clubs would be AS Mirebalais which is based in Mirebalais, as well as US Frères which is based in Frères. ASC and Zénith are both Cap-Haitien based clubs. Roulado are often called the islanders since they are based in Ile de la Gonave. And finally, Cavaly is based in Leogane. How does a team get into the league? Do places like Jacmel, Les Cayes, Jeremie or Port-de-Paix have teams in lower leagues?
well i know Les Cayes has a new club now even though it's considered the birthplace of Haitian futbol. It's currently in Haiti's 3rd division but with some luck they'll probably move up soon. Digicel Cloture 2006 Week 14 1) Aigle Noir 14 matches played, 26 pts. 2) ASC 14 matches played, 25 pts. 3) Don Bosco 14 matches played, 23 pts. 4) Cavaly 13 matches played, 22 pts. 5) Violette AC 14 matches played, 21 pts. 6) Roulado 14 matches played, 21 pts. 7) Victory 14 matches played, 18 pts. 8) Baltimore SC 14 matches played, 18 pts. 9) Racing Club Haïtien 14 matches played, 18 pts. 10) AS Mirebalais 14 matches played, 17 pts. 11) Tempête FC 14 matches played, 17 pts. 12) AS Carrefour 14 matches played, 17 pts. 13) Zénith 14 matches played, 16 pts. 14) Racing des Gonaïves 13 matches played, 11 pts. 15) Dynamite FC 14 matches played, 11 pts. 16) US Frères 12 matches played, 9 pts. That match was played after this weeks' standings were given out. another good result for Aigle Noir, especially with their CFU Club Tournament campaign starting next thursday in Jamaica. Last sunday they won a very key match away from home against Baltimore SC in St. Marc, winning 1-0.
AS Carrefour stuns ASC ASCAR's hope to preserve its place in the première division was helped last sunday in their dominating performance in a 1-0 win at home against ASC at Centre Sportif de Carrefour.
