I just thought it might be cool to have one convenient thread for all of these renderings of MLS stadia. I have included one USL-1 stadium, the Vancouver Whitecaps proposed stadium since there has been some talk about them possibly buying into MLS at a future date and their stadium is being built with that in mind. DC United Colorado Arsenal
That's really good. I really think that once Vancouver gets its stadium we should move up to MLS. What do you guys think. I also like Montreal's chance
I am all for it considering I move to seattle the 14th of next month. It will be a lot easier to get to Vancouver to see the mighty United roll over anything on the pitch, than to get down to Home Depot Center or even the Epicenter. Speaking of the Epicenter @ San Jose, has anyone got a rendering of it yet? Oh, you need more than just a 20,000 person stadium, you also need an owner to pay the MLS fee and stuff Good Luck Canuck! I hope someone up there can make it happen.
i think its safe to say that RSL's stadium will not look like that. those were renderings put out just to have something to show. here are some up to date drawings:
Re: Future SSS Renderings Thread Well, since you included a few USL franchises I think Atlanta - Silverbacks deserve some note here as well... as it is not so much a "future" rendering, but more of an actual stadium which is in the process of being built, and is scheduled to be completed by 2007/ Now I was a long proponent of buying out Herndon Stadium and rennovating it, and perhaps even sharing it for a while. However RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium is already being built, is open for use, and it is as good or slightly less than most of the other SSSs I have seen. RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium Development This is not exactly what I would encourages teams to build, but it does include a few thing's I have been suggesting. It is being built in phases, and with the first few phases complete, they are currently operating the stadium, and thus gaining revenue from it, without having to rent out De Kalb. It will have a second tier built, eventhough it does not overlap the 1st. It also has the multi-colored seating in it, to disguise the sparsity in attendance. More on the stadium: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverbacks_Park http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/park/ http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/news/displaynews.php?id=62&cat=1 http://www.fieldturf.com/soccer/highProfile.cfm?highProfileID=147 http://www.flickr.com/photos/curt/sets/72157594207046359/ oh yeah and pssst... IT IS PROJECTED TO COST $20M!!! Unfortunately though, it looks like they've secumbed to the horrors if "Field Turf"
Re: Future SSS Renderings Thread From your first link: I wonder if there's a connection between the $20M price and the 15,000 seat max capacity.
I have never seen that rendering for DC united. Where do you find these images? That is pretty sweet looking.
Re: Future SSS Renderings Thread I hope they deviate enough from that design to build access to the upper tier
Looks like Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=18&ll=35.218178,-80.828251&spn=0.003318,0.005032&t=h
the philadelphia rendering is not going to look at all like that. That is a generic rendering to say "hey here is where the stadium goes with respect ot everything else". I doubt thats any actual rendering.
Outside of RBP looks really good. I'd give it a 9.75 out of 10. So far the inside I'm not impressed with but i'm reserving judgment until more renderings are shown.
I truly hope they stay as far away from a stadium in that rendering, it looks like a really bad open aired 50-80K seat college football stadium... Philly in the Northeast, with a population which is growing up to hate the outdoors and prefer to be inside... they will need a roof covering if they plan to get attendance numbers worth going through all the trouble of getting a team in MLS.
Re: Future SSS Renderings Thread the Home Depot Center was like $150M the Commerce City Stadium is projected to be $130M Toyota Park was $70M, and seats 20K Pizza Hut Park was $80M, and seats 21K and change, You think it will cost them another $50M+ to add another 5K seats and a partial roof covering there? They just built it smarter... at Columbus Crew Stadium prices, with far better quality...
Re: Future SSS Renderings Thread It won't be done by 2007 though..thats for sure. It will most like be 4k capacity in 2007, 7.5k by 2008, and 15k by 2010 at the absolute earliest. But I don't really think they'll make it to 15k TBH.
