I think he needs to be called up sooner than later. I think his potential is really something special, particularly for somebody who is only 18(Won’t be 19 until September).

Masche needs to be replaced, ASAP. Some are already demanding Aimar and I think that would be a good fit. I know, this would be a long shot but Gallardo would also be a good player developer. He does want a position in Europe, maybe he can do both? Not happening but, yes, Masche has to save face and turn in his resignation. In the past, we did much more with far less. It’s an indicator that they were not prepped well.

Well, some good news(Hopefully). At least he understands it was his failures. This is an important gig. He needs time to grow as a manager. Take something small and grow.

What a shitshow man. The wc was a good oportunity to see Garnacho, Soule, Luka, the Carboni brothers, Geralnik, etc, making their first steps with our jersey and easing them up with the seleccion. Now they'll have to be thrown to the fire with the seniors. Thanks to covid this is the second generation of pibes who won't play a u20WC, that can't happen in Argentina.

Watching Nico Paz crying like that destroyed me. It helps to tear down some prejudices though. Kids that were born and raised in another country and have a goofy gallego accent can feel our jersey as much an any other guy. Let's remember that lesson, it's going to be important.

As for Mascherano's future... he's basically reached Veron post 2002 status... with a big difference: Unlike La Bruja, Masche doesn't even have a team to fall in. He burned that bridge when he chose to "respect" Barcelona and ignore the River fans that traveled across the whole world. And then when he decided to collect yuanes instead of going back to River (while Veron came back when he was still pretty much in his prime).

I can't see him working in Argentina, I think he's going to be an analyst for some international tv. And I'll make this prediction: once the euphoria after the world cup calms down a little, he's going to say something about how Argentina's celebrations and behaviour don't represent him. I'm confident on that.

This is the new trend amongs clowns/haters who cant accept we're dominating the football scene since 2020. Bandwagon jumper. Ibra speaking about it is a bold example, the man himself has 14 red cards as a striker.

I think its the right decision for Mascherano to step-back from the U-20 team. He didn't have it. Some guys can make the jump to managing right away, some will take time.

Mascherano is still very respected by players, so he has the ability to make players play to their potential. However, it is clear that he was not ready. I don't think that Mascherano will give up in coaching, that is not his style. I hope that we can have a switch of Aimar to the U-20 and Mascherano to be Scaloni's understudy.

Regardless of what happens, the U-20 manager is a very important role right now. There are a lot of youth talent that needs to be made part of our system. I hope this is done fast and effectively

Remember Mateo Klimowicz? Well, he’s now playing his football in Mexico for Atletico San Luis. I wonder if the Mexicans will try to cap-tie him if he sticks around for a couple years :ROFLMAO:.

PSG and two other undisclosed European clubs keeping close tabs on Claudio "Diablito" Echeverri and thinking of already making an offer to scoop him before he even debuts.

Perrone made his debut for Manchester City in the Premier League. Looking forward to seeing his growth under Pep.

The fact that Maximo Perrone is getting paying time for Manchester City this early is encouraging (only 20 years old, just transferred on January 23, but only made his professional debut about 10 months ago for Velez Sarsfield).

Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with about 20 available players for every position and every type of formation. So competition for playing time is really tough, specially for a a young guy like Perrone.

    A lot of our young players (24 and under) are in the EPL now;
    • Enzo at Chelsea
    • Garnacho and Licha at ManU
    • Romero at Spurs
    • Julian and Perrone at ManCity
    • Mac Allister at Brighton
    • Carlos Alcaraz at Southampton

Enzo needs to take charge. New coach incoming and new system. Perrone needs to work on his game. Fundamentals of a deep lying six and five are there. More a six than a five. Mac Allister needs to play six and keep focused. I don't like hearing the disharmony in the background with his long term partner.

Alcaraz needs to leave Southampton. They are going down and the club is in all sorts of turmoil. It was an ill advised move. He cannot flourish when the rest of the midfield and defence is so dysfunctional.

So, Javier Mascherano was given the opportunity to step-down from the U-20 with dignity and make it seem like it was his decision (but everyone knows what really happened). He will be given an opportunity to join the senior team coaching staff, and who knows, maybe Javier needs more exposure & experience to become an effective manager.

I have not heard who AFA wants as the new U-20 manager. I heard Aimar's name and also heard that Scaloni has asked Cambiasso to join the coaching staff.

I LOVE this new AFA; you don't perform, you are out but not done forever. Decisions are made regardless of emotional attachment. I am still getting used to having adults making decisions at AFA

I would prefer someone like Aimar (basically anyone who was part of Scaloni's coaching staff). There should be some kind of continuity in terms of playing philosophy/style from the U-20 to the senior level so that when a pibe comes to the senior level, they are already accustomed to the Scaloni's style of play.

Scaloni has a saying who is the U-20 manager, so I believe that the continuity from youth teams to the senior team is part of the thinking.

Mascherano was so bad...im glad he is out, i hope to never see him again near a NT, to be honest.

The ticket sell for the Argentina game in el monumental starts tomorrow. Its gonna be a bloodbath. Its expensive as shit. Of course i will be trying to get 2 for me and my husband, but i doubt i will be lucky, there are gonna be 41 millon people trying the same at the same time. Man, i just want to see Messi and Fideo play live before they retire. My lifelong dream.

Alan Varela is being considered by Klopp as a replacement for a couple of their midfielders during the summer. Transfer fee of around £20M.

I think it’s just his wonderkid status. There are tons of promising youngsters, but for the longest he has been hailed as the future, kind of like Messi or Aguero in their youth days.

He first wowed audiences when he became a viral internet sensation at an international club tournament in Italy when he was just 11. Seriously, go look at some of the clips, he just looked “different”. Since then he has been on an upward trajectory, shining at every level of the youth divisions, being promoted to the reserves last year and immediately becoming integral, and now being the main star and captain of the U-17 NT. Aimar is extremely fond of him, as are his coaches in River (including Ortega and Gallardo). He is also being closely tracked by all the top European clubs.

Now how his career pans out is yet to be seen, but everything seems to indicate he’ll be the next big crack coming from Argentina and Scaloni seems interested in adapting him to the senior team early like had happened with Messi, Mascherano, Aguero, Saviola, etc.

Plus Scaloni has already done the whole early introduction thing with Soule, Geralnik, Garnacho, Carboni, Paz, Zeballos, etc so it makes sense he wants to begin incorporating Echeverri even though he may not be in his short-term plans

Hopefully it's just temporary. He is a potential for the LB spot at seleccion level. A single outstanding season and he can be on his way to Europe.

As for Echeverri he's an outstanding talent. I really like the way the u17, u15 and u20 are integrated. Just a pity the wrong coach was selected for the u20.

The u17 start their qualification for the Mundial on April the first. I expect they'll mingle with the seleccion at Ezeiza and watch them at Monumental.

Several emerging players in the squad.

He has just turned17 and already trained with the Sevilla first team under Sampaoli. Born in Rio Cuarto he moved overseas with his family. Starting with Puerto Malagueno his talent was quickly spotted by Sevilla. He's already refused the call of the Spanish selection. He's very athletic, good with his feet and a giant alreadt at 1.90m.

Ulises Gimenez and Ian Subiabre are both from River with Echeverri. Ulises is a uncompromising centreback with a decent turn of pace who leads the backline as a 2. Decent on the ball and in the air although the former needs work. He's very aggressive and robust and already on the fringes of the River first team. He may well captain the u17.

Ian Subiabre has Chilean parents but he's declared for Placente and Argentina. Bullock like strength, good off both feet and a talent for popping up in the right place he's another that is highly regarded at River.

The other kid at River Franco Mastantuono is incredibly skilled playing at the top of the midfield like Echeverri and unfortunately means he misses out. Silky left foot and carries the ball with comfort and great vision. Imagine him, Echeverri and Prestianni in a future midfield. That is the shame as Velez have not released Prestianni. He scored his debut goal for Velez last night. Most kids would blast the ball. Gianluca ? No keeps calm dummies the keeper and passes it into the net like a veteran.

Domenech of Boca will lie at the base of midfield with his shock of blonde hair the engine of the midfield. Hard running, aggressive and a good distributor. A younger RDP. Placente coaches the sides so don't expect any cockups like Mascherano and the u20. Immensely talented squad even without Prestianni. I would have liked Mastantuono to be there in that respect. I'm sure they'll be there at the Mundial.

Mancini- Simeone… Sounds Italian… Great grandfather was Italian?

Yeah, I’ve been following his stats and development. He seems to be the pick of them litter from the Simeone boys. It’s funny, I remember Cholo talking a few years about it would be difficult for father and son to work together, when Gio was mentioned to play for Atletico. He was just being nice saying, he’s not good enough. But now, he’a going to call up Giuliano next season.
