This tournament is so heavily designed in favor of MLS teams. In addition to the MLS getting 5 slots, they put all the Mexican teams on one side but MLS evenly spread out. What a crock.
So you missed the whole part where they had a live draw to determine the bracket? It's not 2011 anymore, Concacaf has (thankfully) left those days behind.
yes, for me this is a bigger surprise than Austin, because Pachuca are some CCL experts. not this year
Welp, LA definitely has the edge going into the 2nd leg. Tigres vs Leon, I cannot call. The two 2nd legs should be incredible.
I dunno about that: LAFC and Philly tie literally every time, and any draw other than 0-0 keeps the Union alive, so it's still a toss-up in my book. As for León-Tigres: y'all saw the same Gignac I did on Tuesday, right? I don't think León have it in them to keep him off the scoresheet for another 90 min.
...can anyone pass me a fork and a napkin, so I can get started on this crow pie? We got a hell of a Final coming up (and hopefully FOX puts the 2nd leg on the main channel here in the US!): The saga continues 🏆@lafc and @clubleonfc will compete to be crowned champions!#SCCLFinal Schedule 🗓️ https://t.co/nQxNUvCHNI pic.twitter.com/YiCjSNHPFt— Concacaf Champions Cup (@TheChampions) May 4, 2023 And now for something completely different: a CCL showdown between Liga MX and MLS that finds the Mexican team out of form León surprisingly failed to survive the play-in round of the Liga MX Clausura, so they'll have no official matches until the 31st... while LAFC progress in the MLS regular season and the Open Cup.
This tournament is heavily in favor of MLS. MLS had 5 teams and Liga MX had 4. MLS had their teams evenly spread out and Liga MX on one side 3 teams on one side of the bracket (Leon being one of them) and Atlas the only one on the other side. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_CONCACAF_Champions_League. For years and still gets used, MLS claimed it was an excuse of money and now MLS has 10 clubs of the top 10 of the most expensive teams in all of the Americas (Brazil and Argentina included) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_most_valuable_football_clubs_in_the_Americas . I actually this is a bit BS and they are looking at it from a $ perspective. Then it was schedules. Liga MX and MLS both played on schedule with this last tournament Leon not playing in over one month due to their tournament ending. LAFC was in full swing. CONCACAF Champions cup and CONCACAF Champions League: Liga MX (Mexico) - 38 Liga FPD (Costa Rica) - 6 MLS (USA)- 3 Congrats Leon.
Congrats to Leon, that was a fun match. Thanks for that list @LAFEFUT… interesting that the top 10 teams are all in the mls, as the LAFC’s coach’s main excuse was about how MLS teams just don’t have a deep enough roster ^^ CCL has been heavily in favor of MLS teams for years now, the excuses always stay the same.
Congrats to León! And LAFC will have to lick their wounds, showing up with arguably the strongest MLS squad in a CCL Final, only to lose both legs Correct me if I'm wrong @LAFEFUT , but that's more of an overall valuation... MLS clubs are highly valued primarily for real estate, while the teams themselves mostly run in the red (at least, that's the line Garber returns to any time fans and the media pressure the league for a higher salary cap ). But yeah, LAFC and their tricky accounting to get Bale and Chiellini on the roster are the last ones who should be complaining about restrictions.
