A quick three minute video about how MLS is closing in on jumping past the NHL that ends with the belief that MLS needs to break into the local market:

That article was released before the actual press release from MLS and Apple so much of it was just conjecture. What I pulled was directly from the MLS website. I don't think 40% equals a "limited number". I think the amount of "free" games will be much much lower than 40%, maybe closer to 5%-10%.

And the Apple deal helps with this how?

I’d say some markets have surpassed the NHL in popularity. Chicago on the other hand… you could potentially argue the Chicago Sky are more popular than the fire.

  10. Flopadito is actually a good analyst in Spanish AND English. We let it go for Meola, maybe we can do it for El Clavadista.

So I finally got appltv and did the free subscribe for MLS and I must say the intro by DJ Step was pretty good. He did a great job. Also seeing the highlights of Blanco was amazing. I was hoping to see some sort of thing for preseason matches but no luck as yet on that.

What are you working with? Any OS/iOS product of the past 7/8 years would be ok. You can also go the Android route and log in on a website.

    2015 MacBook and iPhone 7+

I’m not too worried about it — I’ve been out of Chicago for the past month, but feel like it will be easy to set up on the tv worth the Rokinwjere I actually watch games

Yeah the oldest iPhone that will run iOS 16 is the iPhone 8 and the oldest MacBook that runs Ventura OS is the 2017 era.

Sounds like you’ll have better luck with the Roku.

So, you still need a paid Apple TV account for the "free" MLS account.

    nope, it's separate

at least for the free subscription to STHs, not sure about the others from T-Mobile or DirectTV

They forced me to order a trial for Apple TV in order to qualify for the T-Mobile "free" MLS package. You need an Apple tv log on to access it.

I guess it is better than I am "only" paying $6.95 a month to watch the Fire lose, as opposed to $21.94 a month to watch the Fire lose (paying for Apple TV-$6.95 and MLS package-$14.99).

This is an incredible rip off for consumers.

I have to investigate if I can cancel the Apple TV "trial" before they start billing, but keep the package for MLS.

    weird

my brother signed us up on our free STH subscription and he doesn't have an account -- he did have the app downloaded, but no associated account

Last I heard that is a “loophole” if you want to call it that and should work. but it was for the annual plan, not sure if the monthly would change upon next billing cycle

Ran into some awkward steps getting the Nashville vs NYC working…had to update all devices to latest firmware and because my TV is an Android based Sony I couldn’t get it to airplay. Finally go it going by streaming on my phone and mirroring to the TV.

Good news is the video quality is quite good
Bad news is this is like patting your head and rubbing your tummy to make it work.

Side note: Muhktar didn’t start and when he came on…wow, he’s really good.

That would be great, last time I looked I couldn’t find a way to load the app…does Google Play have it now?

Yup! On an Android TV yes, on a phone no.
