Estimated beer price for a cold one from the bucket vendors? I'm guessing $16 for the cans of Tecate/Dos Equis this year.

I would say that anything that pertains to in stadium experience, getting there, getting out, places around the stadium, etc. We can do a ticket exchange thread if people want it.

I really hate seeing the faded gridiron football lines on the field during XFL season but if I thought that the revenue from that football team would equate to more roster spending by DC United I could live with it.

    But I don't believe that...so I just hate it.

Revenue generated at the stadium makes Jason happy. Why are you against happiness?

Servicing debt is the highest function that revenue can do. Some people are just haterz.

It might be used for debt service. It also might just mean Levien has to sell off fewer slices of the team to the seemingly ever-growing list of minority partners to have needed working capital.

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit cynical today.

It's a business. MLS is a business. This is what businesses do to stay afloat.

Sports shouldn't be a business. It wasn't until some business types took over and demonstrated you could milk fans for cash and communities for tax breaks. Sports should be a way for super mega rich people to show other super mega rich people they are better than them. Or it should be a community asset, where the fans own 50%+1 shares and protect themselves from super mega rich owners using teams to make money.

Sorry, I'm olds and remember a time when fans weren't just wallets to exploit. Don't get me wrong, owners always tried to make money from fans but that wasn't the only goal, which it is now.

There are teams and owners that still have this mentality (see Man City and Oligarch Chelsea)...

there's always been corruption of owners in sports - back to the Stone Age of and Greek Olympics, to towns in Europe competing in free-for-all rugby type contests to Native American villages with La Crosse to colleges in the 1890s and on recruiting 25 yr old men to EPL academies stealing kids from other cities to .....

Super mega rich people don't play by the rules. Why would they? My posit was that they didn't fleece fans for all their money because owning the team wasn't about making money, it was about proving you were the most super duper mega rich dude so didn't care so much about "alternative revenue streams". Once rich dudes got into sports, they needed to make money because their pockets aren't deep. (See Anschutz's (sp?) comments about carrying MLS back in the day).

There's no paint in the end zones and everything appears to be light. The sideline sections have huge tarps. Ironically, security is making Howard's band stay off of the tarp and go on the grass more.

I'm actually more concerned about all of the photographers and broadcast support on the field. It's a lot. Players are respecting the tarp as a hard boundary they stay inside although it only stretches to the 30s and is a hike when substituting.

It's nice to see the video board above the team entrance actually used as a video board. It's duplicating the main video board with room to spare for ads.

Security has not allowed a beer snake. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come for United fans. The beer snake has been part of XFL and Defenders promotions. Irate fans are now throwing things on the field.

    We've never done that.

Of course, when you augment lemonade with other liquids, it is not surprising that this happens.

Odd that the broadcasters are not upset about this.
