My 27 y/o son is a big advocate of cable cutting, but the dirty little secret is that anything he can't watch is fixed by virtue of him piggybacking on to my home's cable system, which my wife and I pay over $300 per month for!
Ha ha! He still has to do that sometimes. Every now and then we get a password that comes into our phones and we know the drill... forward to him!
The question of this service is, if we go to bed before a 10pm game starts, can we watch it the next morning via On Demand? I hated Fios because when a game was late, the next replay would be (usually) about the same time the next night, or sometimes even later. (I am not a big enough fan to stay up, or set an alarm clock, to watch a recorded game at 1am). I understand we can watch all the games, but ? only in real time?
Couple things: 1. I usually get home and turn on Paramount+ between 7 and 9 PM and they are not there. Is that not patient enough? 2. In my experience, not all the games are there for between 24 and 48 hours. I record the Spanish stations on YouTubeTV to try to get better coverage. Champions League starts up again soon and I'll try to take good notes on what I experience.
You could be right. I often start by watching one of the 12h45 ET kickoffs when I'm finished work, which of course get uploaded first. So by the time I search for the late kickoffs its after 9pm ET
To be fair, the URL is working, just not the app: https://tv.apple.com/us/channel/mls-season-pass/tvs.sbd.7000 Revs @ Charlotte (and all the opening weekend games) will be free (if you're a "try before you buy" person).
Upgrading to iOS 16.3 fixed the issue. Revs have their own page. No pre-season games listed under "Upcoming Matches" (I was hoping). Looks like 2022 matches are available to watch if you subscribe. Free content there as well (top 5 goals from 2022, etc).
The Revs "Club Profile" (11 min, narrated by Jeff Lemieux) is pretty good (and free). https://tv.apple.com/us/episode/new-england-revolution/umc.cmc.7eboz8oy2qd2iilgi5txwzwtd
Note that it is an AUTO RENEWING subscription. Even if you buy the entire season up front. So, put a calendar event in your phone to remind you mid-January of 2024 to decide if you want to renew. I’m pretty sure “cancel anytime” means a cancellation will take effect on the next renewal date… Or, I suppose, in a few weeks one could cancel to make sure you don’t get Auto-renewed in 2024 (at an as yet undetermined price).
Watched the Rev and Montreal team profiles. Interesting enough. Also interesting that I could only get English audio and English subtitles. No French or Spanish offered on the those two, I figured I’d try LAFC to see if Spanish was offered: Answer = NO. Same for FC Dallas. Early days and make of it what you will.
I believe so. Also with Apple + and MLS package, we can watch any game, any team at any time. I just don't know how long the recordings stay up on the platform.
Wave 3: Apple and Major League Soccer add 31 broadcasters to MLS Season Pass team By MLSsoccer staff Wednesday, Feb 8, 2023, 11:37 AM Adding to the 49 announced in the first 2 waves, that brings the on-air talent hired by Apple up to 80.
Looks like Charlie and Brad have been left off of the Apple team, although I'm not even sure they applied. Does anyone know what's going on with these two? Are they planning to do the radio color?
Good question. There is nothing on the Revs site mentioning radio for 2023. Usually the games on the schedule list "how to listen", but not this year (yet). The radio site: https://985thesportshub.com/revolution-radio/ Still lists it as the home of the Revs games, but it was last updated in May 2022. They (re)posted a Revs article yesterday, so there is still some relationship there: https://985thesportshub.com/2023/02...d-states-soccer-talent-identification-center/
They still have mentions as Home of the Revs on the air so I would expect if nothing else they'll have some kind of arrangement to simulcast the audio from the broadcasts.
The fact that Apple will offer home radio broadcasts as an audio option on the streamed games, leads me to believe that Brad and Charlie will be back for radio only, but that's just a guess.
Sounds about right. I would also guess that Apple is all over making sure that the two feeds are exactly synchronized.
I've seen more than a few comments about how sad it is that Apple isn't including them, but, sentimentality aside, how can it not be a relief to at least have the possibility of something better?
People keep making this assumption about Apple not including them ... is making an assumption that they want to. They might be happy to move on with whatever their next goal is?
