Looks like we have another centre back headed this way. 26 year-old Peruvian Luis Abram, coming from recently relegated from La Liga club Granada.

Quote from Celtic's manager insinuated that Giakoumakis is no longer in his plans, as he expects him to leave. Which tells me outgoing is still allowed, even if their transfer window is closed.

As to destination, he had no idea.

I've no inside scoop on the Greek striker, but I recall from times past in transfers for other clubs there have been moments like this where the clubs and player were all in agreement and papers filed but something was holding up on getting work permits secured in the new nation. Perhaps everyone is waiting for that type of technicality to be resolved before making the announcement. (Would also explain why he hasn't traveled anywhere.)

Atlanta loses 4-1 to Atlante, but it was tied 1-1 while the starters were in.

The goal the starters gave up though...it's the second bad play by Brad in two preseason games. Not exactly filling me with confidence that he still has it.

Yeah, he's rusty as hell for someone with that much experience. Granted, doesn't help that so many other defenders are equally rusty.

Man City is upset with Erling Haarland. Perhaps we can sign the greatest player on the planet for cheap?

Well, they're now going to a panel over alleged rule breaking. Perhaps if the club gets hit with a massive penalty and need to sell...

Or maybe take Sean Johnson off their paws if Guzan continues to struggle.

Gah! Thanks for the assist. I've been so focused on Arsenal to date that I'm behind in my MLS dirt.

GG signing is now official. He will be a DP.

The good news is that even though he's missed preseason he should be in near mid-season form as he comes over from Scotland. Snippets in Scottish press paint him as an aggressive runner capable of great patches of form.

While the conventional Greek diet doesn't suit me, no matter how healthy it's supposed to be, I may have to dine in lamb gyros if this guy delivers. For this year I'll settle for stability and someone able to work well with Araujo and Almada.

I'd be looking forward to a Goose Island lamb sub with pickled onions, but I think they've left the Benz for some reason.

We got a striker. Tired of waiting on the season to begin so I can see what we don't have.. Let's Go, Stripes!

Funny question: Since Giakoumakis is Greek, if (IF) he does Josef-like stuff for us, do we build his statue in an ancient style?

So, not quite the original five stripes, but close.

Here's the thing. I'd be thrilled if they had just kept the original kit. Build your brand. With small badges and all the Adidas kits looking similar, it can be hard sometimes when you see a picture of a game to tell who was playing. The five stripes looks different from every other team currently in MLS. Keep it as your primary so every soccer fan knows immediately who they're watching when they see it.

Then go for broke on the alternates. Change it every season. Make it subdued. Make it loud as hell. Make it white, then blue, then neon. I'll like some, hate others, but it would be interesting. And leave the primary alone. This is your brand. Don't mess with it.

If he comes close to replicating either of Josef's two best seasons and the club wins a trophy, then he can have his statue in any form he wants!

    Ouzo for everybody!

That would've been my choice, as well. I tolerated the "Star and Stripes" edition and have been fine with the BLACK kit, but I loved the first primary kit. Given the merchandise sales, though, I guess I can't complain too badly. Main thing for me is sticking to a deeper red than UGA/ Falcons and keeping enough gold accents for the splash.

Our primaries at their best look like ACM, tho.

IMO, this is pretty much as close as we're gonna get to our Inaugural. I like the gold on the collar, and glad out shoulder stripes are gold again. The gold helps separate us from other sports teams in the area... I like the idea of going for broke on the road kits and alternates.

I'm just wondering when we're gonna get a shirt sponsor that doesn't look like Pop Warner gridiron

Right now, I've got more United stuff than anything else. Three shirts (Inaugural, BLVCK and white/gold not 25th), two hoodies, a scarf, a ballcap, and a replica ring. I will likely finish this season with a green and the new shirt

Personally, I have never been impressed by Giakoumakis. And thought we could have done a lot better signing for a DP of all positions. Hope to be wrong.

I admit that I haven't paid much attention to UEFAball since 2017. What do you know about him?

I won’t claim expert status, I’ve just watched some Celtic games in order to watch Carter-Vickers, and at best, I would describe Giakoumakis as pretty vanilla. Whereas, Daizen Maeden and the other Japanese international have always looked like they could play at a higher level.
