Came in early as injury sub: LOSC @losclive Ismaily sort malheureusement sur blessure. Force à toi Isma' Il est remplacé par Timothy Weah. #SRFCLOSC 1-0 | 33'
Weah earned a late yellow card (81’), which (evidently) sparked a reaction, as Lille scored two goals afterwards to win 1-3.
He played pretty well at LB. Actually did a decent job at tackling. His speed plays for sure... whether it be at winger or fullback/wingback. Lille players were so happy at the end. It was kind of cool to watch.

Not bad idea to convert Weah to a left back. He doesn’t have enough skill to be a good right winger. PSG already know that.
Misses PK. Lille likely out now. Down 2 in PKs. Looks great so often just can't seem to produce goals/assists and now a missed PK. Ouch. Still think he looks promising at FB. It might improve his chances of moving somewhere else if he can play winger and FB on either side. Bummer though.
Struck it well, with a lot of confidence, wasn't the only one not to score. He'll be fine (and make one when it matters*). ++++++++++++ * You know when that is, but we can discuss that elsewhere.
A PK that hits the middle of crossbar is a poorly taken PK, even if (as with Zidane in the 2006 WC final) the shooter gets bailed out by luck. There's no reason to shoot for that spot on purpose - if the keeper dives left or right, a shot that goes a foot under the bar is just as unsaveable. I would say that Weah's penalty was not as bad as Zidane's in the WC final, because he was shooting for power (Zidane mishit a panenka).

At left-back again? I guess it's nice that he's getting more regular minutes now, but still not thrilled with that development.
i always thought that these stretches at an unfamiliar position wasn’t a bad thing for young players, and assume that they make you better overall in the long run. Not sure if that’s right, but it seems logical.
Weah can score a goal, but he is NOT a goal scorer. Jonathan David is a goal scorer. Folarin Balogun is a goal scorer. Moving to left back is not a bad move, aka. Alphonse Davies.
He's following the reverse path of what Barcelona did with Dest. Dest managed two assists when up front, but eventually went back to RB/LB. Let's see if Weah can manage a couple of life-saving plays before he's back up front.
Being a modern FB is super tough. You are expected to contribute on O but somehow responsible for getting back on nearly every counter. That means 70 yard sprints up and down the pitch all game long. Even worse? Even if you get back to help in time if the midfielder on your side fails to do so then you can face two on ones. Dest got totally roasted for a goal just like this in his last game. He was facing two pacey players and had to cover the inside guy with the ball and then release when the pass was made to the wide player at the endline. He missed making the block by inches (GK didn't do him any favors either) and a parade of people (including the announcers) went on to bash him fervently.
