What a weird move at her age to go from a Bundesliga team to an expansion team in the USA where 95% of the players are local.

KC Current has a lot of independent money backing it up, plus got the city to build an new $115 million state-of-the-art soccer stadium just for them.

upcoming season's internatonal players include; Debinha(ranked #23 in Guardian's top 100). vet CB Abby Ercig, French mid Lavogez, Canadian vet Desiree Scott, Aussie Chloe Logarzo, Hannah Glass & fellow Swede Mini Larrson

US players include current rostered USWNT's Haley Mace, Lynn Williams, Adriana Franch.
Former US NT stars include Morgan Gautrat(2015 WC starter ) & Sam Mewis(2019 WC starter). Bits n pieces of youth & senior NT experience; DeBernadino, Hamilton, LaBonta, Del Fava, Kizer
Plus were able to buy or trade to recieve, 2nd top draft choice Michelle Cooper

they probably got right now have an bigger budget than BM's woso squad, since the injury plagued Bayern giving up Glass & some of their subs(Bragstead, Hansen, Vihljamdottir.) looked pretty awful

It's just that, like in men's footbal, to me at least moving to the US is a sign of decline in one's career more than anything else. There are very few 20 year olds moving from European leagues to the NWSL.

When did Bragstad, Hansen and Vilhjalmsdottir look awful?

I feel like this is what the DFB representatives saw, when they asked Potsdam's leadership if they can reschedual the match....

She is 30 though, and was set to be fighting against a strong Gwinn/Simon for regular game time, and this for a club with a new coach now, who doesn't appear to be establishing anything impressive (like a team capable of wining the league ahead of a rebuilt Wolfsburg).

But yes, Glas going from Bayern to an expansion side in the US, might actually say a lot more about Bayern's current direction..:cautious:

Do you follow women's soccer? The US Women are the standard in women's soccer.

The USWNT is the most successful in international women's soccer, winning four Women's World Cup titles (1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019), four Olympic gold medals (1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012).

All of the US players are contracted to play in the NWSL, with the lone exception of Macario, who is out with a knee injury for Lyon.

Also, the NWSL has limited international roster spots, so there will never be "a lot" of 20 year olds moving from European leagues to NWSL.

Pull your head out of your bias. Glas' quote sums up the NWSL vs other leagues perfectly. It is the most competitive league in the world:

KC is not 'an expansion side'. They moved from Utah to KC. It was an existing franchise. Besides they were in the 2022 NWSL Championship game. So they are clearly a strong club. You should not talk about things you clearly know nothing about.

The USWNT are very successful but not necessarily the NWSL. Moving there at nearly 30 to a club that didn't even exist until a few years ago is not a sign of progress in one's career, it is a sign of decline.

30 years old is still prime & some careers have begun to shine after that: Sinclair still starts for Canada even though she’ll turn 40 in an few months. Marta is up there as well. Sweden’s NT been the most consistent in the last 6 years. Lloyd & Rapinoe both won WC/mvp awards in their mid 30’s. Popp’s best tourney ever came at age 31. Hendrich(age 31) looks like the best fit German NT(way quicker than any of those 20 year olds)

I don’t follow mens Bayern, but with their women’s program it’s like they keep consistently shaking up, whether it’s coaches(3 in 5 years) or players. I mean if only could have kept players that left; foreign ones like Miedema, Rolfo, Roord Ilestedt, Jakobsson or domestic; Dabritz, Leupolz, Hendrich Hegering…then by now would of been Champions League winners by now. But they either don’t t want to keep up with the higher salaries offered by other clubs or trying to switch into an new direction, but whatever, it’s hurting them

I've seen different reports concerning the prime ages for male and female players, and what you say here is clearly a very narrow sample size to randomly form the idea 30+ the new prime for a lot of female players...:cautious:

Looking at Germany's senior wnt lose a lot of strong talents before they ever hit 30, I'd think you could make a good counter argument highlighting how most of this programs best female players actually peak around 25-28...

I mean... does anyone here really believe current players in their 30's like Popp, Huth, Doorsoun, Simon, Hendrich, Hegering, are going to have any credible roles within Germany's next Euro squad...? Your looking at these players being in their mid 30's at that point, and I feel it's rare to see any German wnt players being truly relevant for the wnt in their mid 30's.

Yet you won't stop comparing men's football in Germany, with the efforts of women's football in Germany, at every damn opportunity lol...

They were in the Championship last season, you. The NWSL is the most competitive league in the world. Glas spoke. You seem offended. Now tell me which US stars are running off to play in Germany?

I'm sure it's not an issue of money... it feels more like a long standing issue of fickle leadership...:cautious: Bayern offering everything all of their elite European rivals will, the one area they continue to look very fickle, is their leadership's inability to carry through on a clear vision.

Going from their super defensive style helping them win back to back titles in 2014/15, and 2015/16, Bayern would revert to being the nations perennial #2 for many years, until 2019/20 where we would finally begin to witness the club shape a more offensively interesting team, with early signs of it having an obvious identity/playing style.

And this why I feel they've lost so many talented players ahead of schedule, as it's always been unclear what their leadership is trying to establish over the years, with key players on short contracts, having no clear reason to want/need to wait around to see what happens next.

Even now, not long after they built a team to win a title using a more offensively dynamic style of play, their leadership has randomly decided to bring in another coach, wanting to implement his own ideas that appear to have little room for the teams previous style of play, or stars/leaders...

Why isn't the NWSL successful? We pay the best top to bottom. We have many of the world's best players. Take it from Glas. She did her homework. There is not a more competitive league in the world. Every game is up for grabs. It is not a league with any easy wins like rest of the leagues. We also do not have to play in the ice and snow.

Debinha says 'hi' by the way. One of the best internationals n the world and she chose NWSL again and again over all other offers.

LOL... Bayern did sign a 30yo Kumagai from Lyon...:whistling: But I'd hold many of your same skepticisms here, if Bayern had just signed a 30yo defender comning off a long term ACL tear to a big contract...:cautious:

Lara Prasnikar talked about her season so far, and thinks Frankfurt ready to beat Bayern in this weekend's big match; and you know what, even if I think Frankfurt a team still with A LARGE amount of needed improvement ahead of them, I wouldn't be shocked to see them end the match without defeat...:cautious:

0-0 at the start of the season... if Bayern's coach smart in his tactical approach to the coming 2nd encounter, I honestly believe this potentially a huge moment for the league season if Frankfurt find a path to a draw, or even more crazy manage to find a win away from home....:coffee:

Kumagai is a top defender, a World Cup winner and she's won just about anything a football player can win. On the other hand, Glas' biggest success in her career so far is a silver medal at the Olympics with Sweden.
