Shame. I've like Marsch since his time at NY Red Bulls but clubs are trigger happy nowadays.

I think Liverpool are not as bad as their results. Their underlying data is good. I think their xG for/against has them like 5th. I think ultimately, they'll finish in Europa League spots or just outside. There is definitely something broken at Liverpool. I think you can't have that demanding a style of play without refreshing appropriately. They spent badly of late and that is gonna bite them in the ass. If they'd invested half as much in midfield as they had in attack, they would be in a better place.

I think Newcastle have been very good this season but I don't think they are gonna finish in the top 6. I think if Botman gets injured they are significantly worse and I think they have an absolute brutal stretch of games.

They have Liverpool, us in the final and City, a mini break with matches against Wolves and Forest and then Brentford, United, Spurs, Arsenal, Brighton and Chelsea before the end of the season. I think they are gonna lose momentum and someone from the chasing pack; Spurs, Brighton or one of the established sides will figure it out (Chelsea/Liverpool) will pass them.

I just hope we can impose our will on the matches against them because we sure would have had a game plan based on how they would approach our matches and that is now out of the window.

That would be the 2nd funniest outcome.

The funniest outcome would be he saves them from relegation and then walks 10 games into the next season and they get relegated anyway.

Harry has scored 200 goals with 30 penalties and 1 free kick

Just FYI...Andy Cole scored 187 goals with no penalties and no free kicks for 6 clubs...

I was reading about the PL's case against City and apparently, the league is not handcuffed in the same way UEFA is.

There's no time-barring of these alleged offences so no matter when they occured, they cannot be dismissed because too much time has passed. Also, this matter cannot be reffered to the Court for Arbitration in Sport because they have no jurisdiciton (thanks Brexit).

The matter will probably take months and be resolved only after appeals but I think the league might be in a stronger position to act than CAS/UEFA especially since they'll have had time to see City's tricks with the earlier case. I think I'm cautiously optimistic.

For me, using penalties to detract from a strikers achievements is a poor argument.

Penalties count just the same in football, they can be missed and taking them shows good personal responsibility for accepting the pressure (especially for a striker).

    Each to their own ;)

I just hope the PL is strong enough to give them a points deduction even retroactively along with possible record rewriting and a transfer ban and not just a fine that City will have no problem paying.

I always think it’s hard to compare strikers in different eras

cole was a machine but how many times did he play as a lone striker? Generally he had a good partner

also, would Kane cope with the physicality of the 90s? He goes down faster than an instagram ho on a premier league footballer

I think it might come down to if City can bribe their way out of it. I think for the league/football in England, there is an existential threat. Not now. Not for 10 years, but hyper inflation of wages/transfer prices is going to ruin the league. If the Prem is the only league that can afford the best wages/highest fees then there's no way to recoup $ on a purchase/signing that doesn't work out. That's already hard but it is going to get harder if teams can just skirt financial regulation meant to keep that in check.

The United fan in me wants to see titles stripped, a fine equal to the amount they cooked x2 (that goes into grassroots football in all the nations that play in competitions City play in). Relegation and a points deduction for the next 5 seasons and a transfer ban for the next 4 years.

The pragmatist in me wants to see titles stripped, big fine, points deduction this season, transfer ban to last 2 full seasons and a requirement to sell the club within 5 years.

The realist thinks that we will see a points deduction (whenever the judgment comes down) and a transfer ban and a fine that won't make a difference. City will appeal and get that reduced. But everyone will discount anything they've done and everything they will do.

Muppet in me wants a parade and winners medals distributed.

Normally the FA would do some token effort with this (and still may).

However they are actually under a bit of political / media pressure to show they can keep their house in order owing to all the talk of an independent regulator.

    So who knows.

Saw a piece (link below from the Daily Fail) that said if you dock them 20 points in all the seasons they are charged with, then Liverpool get a title in the Slippy G year and we actually get two titles. The Aguero winner year and a title for the last year under consideration when Mou got us into 2nd.

Taking away the Aguero winner and getting another title up on Liverpool in the stats would be noice, but won't happen :)

in many ways it needs to happen.

the worst thing they can do aside from nothing is fine a club with essentially bottomless resources and shady practices for financial misconduct.

i am not buying this bullshit that the clubs don't think title stripping won't have much effect.

if it was appropriate for Juventus it is appropriate here. it should be that plus invalidating signed players at minimum.

don't care how complex it is to execute. it's not an excuse. otherwise what was the point of even bringing accusations and charges?

keep the same energy for the recent chelsea spending too

As much as I hope they will be given the correct sanctions, I just don't see it happening. It will probably end up with some fines and they will carry on as normal.

The fact that the Man City transgressions are so continual and widespread over so many years and yet it took a hacker (Rui Pinto) and a German pap (Der Spiegel) to expose this says a lot about the FA and it monitoring.

Were happy to turn a blind eye for so long.

If City get kicked out, might that serve as a catalyst to reignite interest in the ESL? Juve and Barca are in the same boat too. Plus PSG are doing the exact same thing as City.

That's the thing, everybody has known there was always something fishy with them cooking the books. For well over 10 years. Don't the FA/Premier League audit the clubs on a yearly basis?

They do, but it's a self reporting audit if you will - so not really a true audit.

That's part of the issue. City essentially provided falsified records of their annual financial standing. There are a whole load of payments that were supposedly never reported and instead paid via another entity on City's behalf.

Crazy they can make so many changes and leave their most expensive player ( and striker) out but still give one of the top 2 teams if the Championship a real rough game away from home ..

If Wrexham get promoted this time I think they will fly up through the divisions
