WBA are not clinging to anything. They're on fire, and by some metrics have been as good as any team in the league this season. They should be the favorites. 538 have them the co-favorites w/ Boro for promotion from the playoff. Highly likely they'll make it.

But yea, the playoffs will be must watch from our perspective. I'd expect 3 teams to have YA's. It's handballer-centric though. I'm rooting for 2 of the teams to house real footballers from the States. Too bad Hoppe got forced out of Boro.

Relegation worries all around. Leeds just lost to forest, initially thought to be relegation favorite but now even on points with crystal palace. It’s gonna come down to Leeds vs Everton fir that third relegation spot.

but also musahs València now only a point above the drop zone in 17th place only ahead of Cadiz

EPBs Troyes are also precariously above the drop zone in ligue 1

Benji Michel seems to be primary option off the bench for Arouca

I guess that's good. Good for Benji. Didn't realize he'd shipped out to Portugal.

So Zelelam did not go to Boa Vista, but ended up going to Den Bosch, a bottom dweller for the Ereste Division. I believe they're third from bottom now. He got game time for them today in a 3-0 win against another relegation rival, so good result for them.

From a couple of weeks ago, this was interesting as Weah had previously stated he didn't see himself as a center-forward. I wonder if his thinking has changed.

The only one that will likely be stuck playing in the Championship would be Aaronson.

And its not the end of the world to be done there for a short period anyway.
See Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream...........................
Both went from the Championship last season to fighting for a European place this season.
Not to mention being crucial starters for the USMNT at the World Cup.

Aaronson to me hasn't looked like the same player since the World Cup.
When a player whose main strength is his work rate, pressing, and fight...........gets tired...........what happens? Nothing good.

We have enough players in Europe now, that we will always have some in the relegation battles.
Inevitable. We have players in the relegation fight in England, Germany, Spain, Holland, France, etc. [In Germany John Anthony Brooks steps right into a relegation battle.]

We also have enough players in Europe that we have them fighting for promotion as well. 4 of the top 8 teams in the Championship feature Americans. I wouldn't say Gooch and Sunderland in 10th are totally out of it either.

LOL that it's not the end of the world for established players who've consistently played in top competitions like Wes & Adams to be playing in the Championship. There's never anything to see here.

They have to stay up or to be sold. Leeds aren't going to want $30m players in the Championship either. Fulham didn't pay near those amounts for Ream & Robinson. Mitrovic would probably be the lone exception.

Well the McKennie transfer in particular won’t happen if Leeds don’t stay up. Avoiding relegation is one of the conditions that has to be met to trigger the automatic buy option.

Boca and Pope have long been my pair for any "USMNT All Time" list... has Ream creeped into that discussion and if not, what more does he need to do?

Richards looks like a healthy career away from taking a spot.

Happens all the time with guys like Mitrovic.
I should say............happens in England all the time. :)
Yes, there are international caliber players all over the Championship. Look at Norwich this season. Its not just Sargent. Idah of Ireland. Hanley of Scotland. Tzolis of Greece. Placheta of Poland. Puuki of Finland. The list goes on.

I think Adams will unquestionably be sold should Leeds go down. They'll make a tidy profit on that one. Aaronson? I'm not so sure. A year in the Championship wouldn't be a disaster for him, just like it wasn't for Antonee.

Shrug. I think that when players transfer to a club like Leeds (who had just been in a relegation fight in 21/22).........................they know there's a significant threat of relegation. Part of the deal and risk you take.

A club like Leeds will sell some of these guys should they be relegated. But they can't sell everybody, and may view Aaronson as a guy to help them get back up. [Like Sargent at Norwich.] I'm not sure they turn a profit if they choose to sell Aaronson. Adams? For sure.

Well, I mean Antonee Robinson was legitimately relegated two years in a row. He was relegated from the championship with Wigan in 2019/2020, and then relegated from the Premier League with Fulham in 2020/2021. [That after barely avoiding relegation with Bolton in 2017/2018.] He kept improving and developing to the point that we're hearing rumors of Man City making a bid.

All I'm saying is relegation is part of the deal.
If people don't want the threat of relegation, then they should stay in MLS. Hell, have people noticed that Auston Trusty and Birmingham have been pulled into the relegation fight in the Championship? [I realize he's only on loan.] Duane Holmes is already in that fight with Huddersfield.

We will have players relegated. Pepi is in a relegation fight with Groningen (as is his parent club Augsburg in Germany). John Anthony Brooks went straight into a relegation fight. Musah and de la Torre are both in a relegation fight. Palmer-Brown is in a relegation fight. The list goes on and on. Ian Harkes and Dundee United are in serious relegation trouble.

So yes, Leeds may go down. And those players like Aaronson may stay at Leeds. Part of the deal. Just like Sargent stayed with Norwich. Depends a lot on finances. A club like Schalke cashed in on Hoppe because they needed the money. The parachute payments premier league clubs get help a lot with retaining some of their players after relegation.

Aaronson running out of gas has definitely hurt anyone wanting him at the moment. He will get a rest at the end of the season be better next year knowing more what to expect. If they go down I agree he will go down with them while McKennie and Adams will jump onto life rafts.
