There's a lot of things I love about living in NOVA, but there's a lot of entitlement and not nearly enough social contract.

I don’t want to overstep, but maybe this is what he means

I can see now that the scientific community from the CDC to the WHOto the FDA and their representatives, repeatedly overstated the evidence and misled the public about its own views and policies, including on natural vs. artificial immunity, school closures and disease transmission, aerosol spread, mask mandates, and vaccine effectiveness and safety, especially among the young. All of these were scientific mistakes at the time, not in hindsight. Amazingly, some of these obfuscations continue to the present day.

To show how your understanding is flawed, I just examined the natural vs artificial immunity articles you linked to (thanks for doing that).

The natural immunity article focused on research done when the Delta variant was predominant in Israel.

The artificial immunity article focused on research done BEFORE the Delta variant was predominant in Kentucky.

In other words, the Israel article was based on a different variant of Covid than the Kentucky article. The virus had mutated.

Delta evaded vaccines more effectively than its predecessors. As such, given the vaccines were developed based on the predecessors, the information in the two articles should not be viewed as contradictory, or a "mistake" by scientists or the agencies misleading the public.

This is the problem with such a large segment of the American population being misinformed about science and how science works - conspiracy theories can develop that do mislead people.

The "natural vs artificial immunity" debate is the stupidest debate of all. It's like arguing the best way to prevent your house from burning down is to burn down your house.

I actually have not looked at the stats in a little while:

In the US, 102,171,644 confirmed cases.
    1,103,615 deaths

    Worldwide- 675,000,000
    Deaths 6,800,000
Of course, the actual numbers are likely much higher, due to the incredible under reporting in China.

15.5% of the US population has been vaccinated AND boosted.

295,140 new cases in the US THIS week. About the population of St. Louis, Cincinnati, Orlando, or Pittsburgh (all 300k)

David Sacks was on his podcast recently proudly boasting about not getting boosted.

It seems to have become the latest round of lunacy on the right for people who got vaxxed, to now spread anti-vaxx propaganda about boosters

Sending Fauci to the gallows has become an article of faith on the right, from Musk and co to MTG to DeSantis

The fact that none of it makes any sense doesn't matter.

e.g. DeSantis is demanding investigations into vaxx roll out in Florida, which happened under his own regime :ROFLMAO:

Just took my second dose of Paxlovid. I'm not sitting here angry that I have COVID (for the first time) after being vaxxed and boosted. I'm imagining how horrible this would be if I wasn't.

My mom caught it on holiday at the end of December, likely at a hospital in Auckland just a few days after being admitted for congestive heart failure. Our collective thought was that if she hadn't been vaccinated with all the boosters, she would likely be dead now, given her health conditions and age (she's in her 80s).

  15. On the Dutch tv we have a station called "' ON " = Ongehoord Nederland.
This name has a double meaning.
The one intended by the station, but not the normal meaning is "Netherlands not being heared=ignored=silent "majority".
    The normal meanings are:

    1) Affable 2) Horrible 3) Repulsive 4) Nasty 5) Bar 6) Extraordinary 7) Extraordinary of its kind 8) Excessive 9) Criminal 10) Huge 11) Excruciating 12) Icy 13) Scratchy 14) Ugly 15) Not decent 16) Improper 17) Unseemly 18) Intolerable 19) Indecent 20) Inappropriate 21) Inappropriate 21) Inappropriate
etc., which actually give the real character of this rightwing, conspiracy mongering, Pootin supporting rightwing party Forum voor Democratie fans network.
This week I mentioned that broadcast I saw with the army man explaining the tanks usage for the Ukraine. In it there was an "immunologist" talking about the dangers and the deaths caused by vaccination. He uses our Statistics Bureau CBS numbers of excess deaths and claims these are to be accounted for by the vaccinations, especially those of the people 50 to 60 yo.

Man, the cancer of American media distortive culture has gained a foothold/rooted over here too.

https://split-ticket.org/2023/02/05/did-refusing-the-covid-19-vaccine-cost-the-gop-any-elections/ that Republicans refusing to be vaccinated at a higher rate than Democrats made a difference of 2,700 votes in Arizona, which cost Republicans the attorney general. One thing the article did not mention is that all other things equal, Democrats and Republicans may not be equally likely to get and die of COVID. Both before and during COVID, a random sample of 1,000 80-year-olds monitored for one year will have a lot more deaths than a random sample of 1,000 40-year-olds that year.

So Covid, well what’s next. Covid seems so mild now … So how about Marlberg Virus.
Race against time for a vaccine for Marburg virus: Fears over stealthy disease that masquerades as a cold for days then suddenly look causes organ failure and bleeding from multiple orifices - as outbreak in Africa spreads
Average Death Rate 50% kills up to 88% of infected.

Global health chiefs are in a race against time to develop a vaccine for a virus that is a deadlier version of Ebola and appears to be spreading in Central Africa.

Well damn, it’s the daily fail.

Marburg virus was first described in 1967.[11] It was discovered that year during a set of outbreaks of Marburg virus disease in the German cities of Marburg and Frankfurt and the Yugoslav capital Belgrade. Laboratory workers were exposed to tissues of infected grivet monkeys (the African green monkey, Chlorocebus aethiops) at the Behringwerke, a major industrial plant in Marburg which was then part of Hoechst, and later part of CSL Behring. During the outbreaks, thirty-one people became infected and seven of them died.[12]

I saw this on a couple of local news today.

According to Cedars Sinai Hospital, a study shows a 30% increase in heart attack deaths among 25-44 age group in the 1st 2 years of COVID. Although when I did a search for the study, it was released last October.

    https://www.cedars-sinai.org/newsroom/covid-19-surges-linked-to-spike-in-heart-attacks/

    • In the year before the pandemic, there were 143,787 heart attack deaths; within the first year of the pandemic, this number had increased by 14% to 164,096.
    • The excess in acute myocardial infarction-associated mortality has persisted throughout the pandemic, even during the most recent period marked by a surge of the presumed less-virulent Omicron variant.
    • Researchers found that although acute myocardial infarction deaths during the pandemic increased across all age groups, the relative rise was most significant for the youngest group, ages 25 to 44.
    • By the second year of the pandemic, the “observed” compared to “predicted” rates of heart attack death had increased by 29.9% for adults ages 25-44, by 19.6% for adults ages 45-64, and by 13.7% for adults age 65 and older.

I've sometimes come across posts from anti-vaxx people online talking about young vaccinated people dropping dead left and right. But according to the above study, there was already an increase in incidence of heart attacks in the 1st year when there was no vaccine available. Doesn't exactly debunk vaccine problems, but definitely throws a wrench in their theories. Specially older people, who are more likely to be vaccinated, saw a smaller increase in heart attack death incidence.

Worst case scenario, the vaccine REDUCED the probability of any single individual having heart issues by 2:5 vs actually getting COVID without the vax.

So, your chances of having myocarditis or other heart related issues was from covid was about 1-2%. Your chance of getting COVID without being vaccinated is ultimately going to be something like 99%. Vaccination also GREATLY reduced your risk of serious illness leading to hospitalization or death. SOOOOO...... the experts decided, even with the risk of heart issues, it was still much better to take the vax than to get covid unvaccinated. Better yet, don't do Moderna if you are male and between 12-49.

This is the issue. Getting the vax is a bit like sending your kid to a chicken pox party, except many people avoid getting chicken pox/shingles in their lifetime, whereas COVID is a near certainty. Even if I knew I was specifically at higher risk of heart issues with the vax, I think I still would have gotten the jab over risking an infection without prior exposure.

Times estimates that 1-1.5 million deaths in China due to removing COVID restrictions.

There were like, four (maybe five?) rules during the first two years of the pandemic.

    1. If your job was absolutely essential to the maintenance of a modern society, you went to work.

    2. If it wasn't, you stayed the ******** home. Except to get groceries or go for a walk outside.

    3. Once you got vaccinated, you went back out and lived your life.

    4. You stay home and get better now, if you're sick.

(5 wear a mask if in close quarters with immunocompromised people until you both test negative)

How ********ing hard was this for people to pull off?

pish-posh. You’re talking about the “Died Suddenly” conspiracy theorists. They literally connect any sudden death or person collapsing to the vaccine. IE, that football player that took a helmet to the chest and suffered a heart attack, before he had even been out into the ambulance they were demanding his medical records be released so they can see if he was vaccinated..

But! No. I’m sure this research is being used to prove their Died Suddenly theory has been proven true.

  25. I mentioned a few posts back that filthy network in the Netherlands with that "immune expert" mentioning excess deaths among the U50 group with the suggestion it could be related to vaccinations.
These people are like the gop in the Capitol, against everything Obama and now Biden/Democrats put on the table, even ifit benefits their own voters. These people ride the tides of the internet, where facts can be found, but opinions trump facts.
It's just a matter of time the lunatic imbecils are ready to declare the sky is green, because leftish people like environmentalists etc. tell it's blue.
