1. People keep bringing up these names as standouts, Tomo Allen, Fidel Barajas, Sebastian Carbajal... we also have Oscar Verhoeven and Edwyn Mendoza from the U-17 roster, left back Tristan Viviani... 2. Then we get "I have faith in Leitch and Luchi to make the right choice"... 3. But none of those six guys are even signed to homegrown deals by the very people we're supposed to have faith in?? Puzzling!
Tomo isnt great. Most of the schmucks here dont watch the academy stuff they just follow by report and others opinions. I trust @jeff_adams and @falvo when it comes to the kids. They know the system and them well.
You're describing me, I am one of those schmucks!! But at least I don't claim to actully know anything about these kids...
Lmao yeah im guilty of that. Since I am in college I do rely on @jeff_adams and others to be my eyes on the academy scene and correct me if there is something wrong with my knowledge. I am sure it will all work itself out this season. Also, I forgot about Carbajal haha yeah I would put him next in line. Sorry Yall
As far as the Quakes players are concerned , college players are and have traditionally been much better than any of these academy players. Not that it really means much….
Not sure I believe this... Alan Sonora is a free agent so what does "with a purchase option" even mean here? Alan Sonora to Liga MX it’s looking like. Not sure if this is in an improvement on the Argentinian league if I’m being brutally honest. Do we see this as a good move for him? #USMNT https://t.co/0cgu30Ym4v— USMNTrev (@Eyesandvibes) February 6, 2023 "FC Juárez signs brothers Alan and Joel Soñora: both arrive for one year and with a purchase option."
Have to give Leitch credit with Nathan going down, a very un-Quakes like proactive move to solidify the backline
I think only $200k GAM + $300k GAM incentives IIRC. And we agree to take on his full salary. Sounds like a deal to me if he’s not broken down. He played 30 games last year.
Yup, I remember falvo nailing it on Akanyirige. Not to call him out, but I remember the YNT prospect bigsoccer guy had Akanyirige rated pretty high.
I recall a lot of people here wanting Akanyirige to get more time and even start... that guy was garbage.
I always speculated that maybe Akanyirige was signed so that Fuentes would have another guy on the roster around his age... I was surprised to see certain YNT watchers tout him when it didn't seem like Quakes academy watchers were doing so... well in the end both those kids amounted to nothing for the team.
Mensah already doesn't take up an international slot, Bouda just got his green card and no longer takes up an international slot... that means the Quakes could still make one more move (Kwadwo Opoku from LAFC?)... more likely they wait until the summer to see how the current roster plays out.
Opoku would be the modern day Lagos/Chung/Mullan for this team. Very good winger, lots of speed and extremely physical. I mentioned we needed a guy like that. He's an immediate upgrade over Kikanovic, Cowell, and possibly even Espinoza.
PULISIC SET TO MOVE IN SUMMER Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Christian Pulisic in the next window.Where should Hershey Jesus go? AC Milan? Newcastle? Vermont Green? https://t.co/40EPdMzmkM— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) February 10, 2023
Before folks run Akanyirige under the bus too hard, he's now 21 and still in the game (Rochester NY FC - MLS Next/Pro) and appeared to be a regular last year - he had a goal and 3 assists playing as a RB I think. Unfortunately, looks like Gilbert does not have a team. I wonder if he would consider playing in Guatamala or El Salvador (I think he has one parent from each country).
