untrue.....aaron long vs japan was pathetic...brooks has had a defensive lapse or two but nothing close to that

brooks has played well in world cup, copa america etc....Long NEVER will.....different classes of players

when the lights are on I pick brooks 100% of the time....

imagining long trying to play out of the back vs the dutch or brooks....lol....how is this even a discussion??????

This is plain ignorant. Go read what any MLS player says upon a move abroad. Why do people always say the playoffs are so much more intense than the regular season.

In Yurp, players have to compete every day to get a chance to play. Every game matters. Aaron Long hasn't had to compete for spot in over 5 years. The league is as anti-competitve as one could be. It is basis for the league.

Yes, and crappy MLS players were used instead.

You guys seem to think player call ups are based on resume in an approved league. I think part of the coaches job is to be an actual good judge of talent. They have the tough job of evaluating players across a ton of very different leagues/environments. Berhalter didn't even try to do this. He just picked MLS players for the end of the bench. If I remember correctly, you silly little people spent that whole time claiming DLT wasn't any good.

You aren't really this dumb are you?

Why can't it be a rotating door? We are pretty much set in goal and have 12 to 13 solid field players. There is your core 16 players. That leaves 7 to 10 spots. Call in 10 guys to compete in a camp to get invited to the next.

Why would anyone complain about young players getting a shot. In most cases, it was just a couple of odd friendlies. You want me to be outrages that Llanez got 154 minutes, but not have an. Issue with Paul Arriola got 1,978? Players that don't have the potential to be key players in the side should never be regulars. I am pretty comfortable that I have seen over 23 US player that looks like they could be a key player for the team and yet Berhakter gave over a thousand minutes to Yeuill, Yedlin, Morris, Roldan, Zardes, Robinson, Lletget, Long, Acosta, Arriola, and Zimmerman. Tough to see why folks weren't focused on a couple of caps for a few prospects.

You guys are such petty little bitches!!!!

Not sure about all these silly metrics. By my eye, CCV looked better than Zimmerman at the WC. Based on the Iran game, I doubt CCV would struggled nearly as much with ball against the Netherlands.

It is only going to get worse. It is like they ask Matt Doyle to create the fan culture. Its as if you have to act like an immature, internet troll to be a fan of the league. The behavior other media types is getting worse and worse.

Not sure how the strategy of insulting soccer fans that don't follow MLS is growing the game.

As I have said before, "even bad soccer is better than no soccer." But the match has, maybe, given me enough bad soccer for a while.

It was a VERY uninspired outing for both teams and I "think" the whole stadium and both teams were just waiting for Seattle to make a mistake in the defense. It simply took most of the match for that anticipated mistake to happen. Seattle never really looked in danger of scoring.

The match went pretty much as I expected particularly it seemed that there was little intensity on either side.

Here is a definition that works. What definition. Are you using because that doesn't sound like MLS to me.

adjective. /kəmˈpet̬·ə·t̬ɪv, -ə·tɪv/ eager to do better than others in an activity, esp. trying to win in a sports activity: a competitive person.

Not sure if you know this, but paragraphs are a collection of sentences that go together. You are likely to lose meaning when you just pull two of them of the middle.

So I think the point was that when DLT was breaking through, Berhalter had wasted caps on MLS players that were at a much lower level (I got that from one of the sentences you didn't quote).

Of course I understand how January camps work and yes we just had a Scandinavian player in the camp. I also know that Berhalter had a domestic camp whenever he could. I also know that Berhalter's first official window was an MLS camp with 7 of our top players. Kind of weird that our best players are in Europe like never before and the federation favored domestic players like never before. How about that October 2020 window.

    He played fine in 2022.

Not even close. Every God fearing MLS fan knows the Costa rica game was his worst match for the USMNT. Now I personally was absolutely disgusted by Gonzalez in that game. His lack of effort crushed a fragile team. I will take mistakes over lack of effort. This is going to be a tough one as we know much MLS fans love an unskilled worker.

My worst of all time were those 45 minutes of Long vs Venezuela. I doubt that one was topple.

You mean the Covid window? Where the Euro based players would have had to quarantine for up to 2 weeks upon arrival in the states, and potentially another 2 weeks upon their arrival back at the Euro based clubs?? That October 2020 camp???

So you wanted GG to potentially harm the club standing of our best players for the sake of the USMNT and a couple meaningless friendlies??

I already answered all of this. He played Lletget, Acosta, and Yeuill over him in games after he broke through in the Eridivisie.

We aren’t talking about the same thing. I mean between teams, and you mean within teams. We’re both right.

It was 2016, and Brooks had a very poor game. Why do Brooks mistakes matter so much more than MLS CB mistakes. It is almost like you guys hold it against him that he actually good at soccer.

Brooks is our best all round CB. He should never been kicked out of the program. Looking forward to him getting back in the mix if we get a new coach.

Not a chance. This is supremely stupid. Pretty sure there are some videos of Brooks in those games. It showed one clear mistake (Long did the same thing against Canada) and another that is blown out of proportion. It also shows that he helped the team in many other ways. It was more of a quality performances with one bad mistake. That sounds better than Zimmermans WC.

100% agree. Berhalter should have gotten fired for the October 2020 window. Completely favored MLS players.

Why would it have been in the states? Covid was spiking in the states at the time and the important players were in Europe. They lost over half a year and had a chance to get the team together and chose not to. Probably the dumbest decision I have ever seen.

There was no harm to the players other than not getting a week together.

Actually, you are wrong. The competitive between teams in MLS regular season is less than any top 10 leagues. Wactched games in Germany and England this morning and have never seen an MLS regular season game near that intensity.

Sounded like Morris had a rough day or that is the type of performances we have come to expect.
