Rangers Football Club @RangersFC 78' SUB: A change for Rangers. ➡️ ON: Tillman ⬅️ OFF: Morelos Kilmarnock 1-3 Rangers
So bummed he didn't score. Decent shot after nice control in the box but the GK makes a very good save. Should have scored though IMO. Gotta put that in the net. Had a tremendous pass in tight spaces to Sands but a defender got there first and was also WIDE open earlier in his sub appearance but his teammate inexplicably passes it to an offsides Sakala instead. A nice weighted pass there and he is in on goal. MT looks on the cusp of having very good numbers in the SPL.... really hoping he takes it up a notch. He could also use a little luck as I think he should have at least a few more assists based on his passing in the final 3rd.

His backheel pass led to the lone goal. It was hit with a beautiful spin on it to put it right on stride for Sakala. The shot deflected off the post though and was hammered home by Barisic [wonderfully, I might add] so Tillman did not get on the scoresheet.

Malik Tillman: Another decent showing from the young American. Lovely drop of the shoulder in the opening minute to set up an attack. Should’ve had an assist to his name in the early stages but Morelos failed to capitalise when through on goal. Should’ve done better when he connected with a Barisic cross at the back post but struck his shot into the ground and wide. 7 https://www.rangersreview.co.uk/opi...player-ratings-cantwell-debut-put-microscope/ also - from another Review article. Money needs to be set aside for Malik Tillman as it's understood that's a deal Beale wants to get over the line and make permanent when the time is right. So, a keeper, a further midfielder, a striker, cementing Tillman and like-for-like swaps should players leave looks to be the order of the day come the summer.
Coach talking before the transfer window closes: “He’s brilliant. He’s a very shy young man and keeps himself to himself. He’s learning about the hustle and bustle of British football and he’s a really calm and composed young man. It helps him in the final third. I think he’s a goalscorer from midfield. “He has played as a No 9 and as a 10 coming through at Bayern Munich. I’m delighted with Malik. I’m trying to help Malik develop a couple of areas of his games which will enable him to go and play at the really highest level in the future. “We’ve got to remind ourselves he’s 20 and as young as some of the academy boys we’ve got around the team. “Everyone is happy with it. He’s on the same page, we’re on the same page. For me he’s a player I want to work with longer than six months so you can take from that answer what you will.” https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/rangers-transfer-latest-detail-michael-26110109

And his price just went up... (Hope they have a set buy in the loan papers.) Ended 3-0, as did Celtic's league game today. Plus ca change...
That is 6/4 G/A in 22 League Games now. About a 1 G/A per 150 minutes. Not bad. And the other Bayern Yank Booth is at 2/3 G/A in 14 games. About 1 G/A per 190. I have the sense that each are improving in their respective leagues so we may see these ratios get even better as the season progresses.

Bummed that GB didn't bring him to Qatar. He may have publicly committed to the US but Germany must be taking note now. We could lose him and Booth... although according to this article: https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/2022/06/01/malik-tillman-usmnt-bayern-munich/ Booth is one of the players that convinced Tillman to choose the US.
Ummm..... Tillman made a one-time switch & the only way to go back under current rules is to never appear for the US. Too late.
